Got my Kumar Kobra yesterday and here's my initial impression:
Firstly, like Uncle Bill says, it's really light and handles exceptionally well. The handle feels just right for my average-sized hands, not too big, yet enough room to give some free-play. Comparatively, the handle on my 20" Sirupati feels like it was designed as a two-hander! Also liked the neat buttplate.
The blade is thin, sharp, and with those crisscross hatchmarks giving it a scaly look, it sure accentuates the snake-like appearance of this weapon - one look at the blade and whatever doubts I had as to the validity of its name vanished! The cho on this one is also pretty unique. Gotta love those long, sturdy chakma and karda too.
Don't yet know what to make of the frog, though. I like it's sturdy construction, but those two lace-up panels on the front will take some getting used to (I guess all those years of seeing just plain and BAS style frogs have skewed my views!). A minor issue.
Of course, I doubt this'll outchop my AK, but as a weapon, I love it! Folks with a bent towards fighting blades should definitely consider the Kumar Kobra.
