I am very interested in the Kumar Kobra. Anyone have one so that they can recommend for to buy one? Also what is the price?
Thanks.

I don't have one, but you might try typing in Kumar Kobra in the search mode. There'll probably be a couple threads on that khuk. that might tell you all you want to know. Good luck!

I haven't receive my 20" Kumar Kobra - it is a feather weight class - a sort of "Nepali" Katana - not meant for heavy chopping & prying but I guess it must be great for MA purposes! BTW - I think HI 20" Kumar Kobra is a sort of Balance Khukuri as well (Am I correct Pakcik Bill?).

Pakcik Bill - is mine still in the making?

NEPAL HO!

I have a Kumar Kobra and have really liked it. I posted my impressions a few months ago on this site. It is very easy on the wrist and moves great. I have never regretted the purchase.

My Kumar Kobra is on its way, I'm expecting it in my hands by monday. Will let you folks know what I think about it.

In the meantime my palms are getting all sweaty just thinking about handling that weapon!

Bhanis, your Kumar Kobra is made from a recycled file -- this is what Kumar likes to use and I think it's the reason he has not made any 30 inchers. He does a respectable job and I do not think you will be disappointed. We look forward to your review.

Khukuri FAQ

Got my Kumar Kobra yesterday and here's my initial impression:

Firstly, like Uncle Bill says, it's really light and handles exceptionally well. The handle feels just right for my average-sized hands, not too big, yet enough room to give some free-play. Comparatively, the handle on my 20" Sirupati feels like it was designed as a two-hander! Also liked the neat buttplate.

The blade is thin, sharp, and with those crisscross hatchmarks giving it a scaly look, it sure accentuates the snake-like appearance of this weapon - one look at the blade and whatever doubts I had as to the validity of its name vanished! The cho on this one is also pretty unique. Gotta love those long, sturdy chakma and karda too.

Don't yet know what to make of the frog, though. I like it's sturdy construction, but those two lace-up panels on the front will take some getting used to (I guess all those years of seeing just plain and BAS style frogs have skewed my views!). A minor issue.

Of course, I doubt this'll outchop my AK, but as a weapon, I love it! Folks with a bent towards fighting blades should definitely consider the Kumar Kobra.

Overkill? Not these forumites, Uncle Bill. Back before my arthuritis stove me up some, I NEVER used my Safari Grade 458 as a squirrel gun ( there was one jackrabbit that was just asking for it though ).

No 30" yet? What about the 25"s?
