Anyone have a separate line of coverage on their knives.

The wife and I calculated the replacement value of my collection tonight and realized it's probably time to add it to our insurance like the guns and jewelery.

Just wondering if anyone has done this. I am not anticipating any pushback other than, 'you want to insure knives for how much??'.

They understand what your knives are worth, they are reasonably priced, your knives are covered under most any circumstance (during shipping, away from home etc.) and if you ever have a claim they payoff quickly without any BS. http://www.collectinsure.com/

I have collectibles insurance, you don't need to submit an inventory list as they know it can be constantly changing. I have never needed to submit a claim but it's a piece of mind.

I've had one claim, A Jay Hendrickson Hunter was stolen from my checked luggage while returning from a show. I called Collectables Insurance, they had a claims adjuster call me back (same day) who asked 3-4 questions and I had a check for full value in the mail 29 days from the day I reported the loss.

I believe you only have to list individual knives separately if valued over $5000, other than that like Chucks says, no inventory list is required.

Great info and thanks for posting this topic. My wife has been telling me I need to get coverage and she only knows part of what my collection is worth.

Yep, this is good stuff! I've been with them for 10 years or more. I got it when I started flying to a few shows and wanted coverage when the knives where in my check luggage. Works great for shipping also!

I wouldn't ever consider changing my coverage from Collectibles Ins Agency, which I've had for years. They are easy to work with, the coverage is great, the carrier is decent - and if you do much shipping of your knives (I'm speaking here as a collector, not dealer stock), if you comply with policy terms, your coverage on a shipment is up to $20k depending on the shipper you use. You can pretty much recoup the annual premium in the insurance costs you don't need to pay the shipper.

Collectibles is IT!

EDIT: I should also mention that if you ship pieces in excess of $20k value, you can call them and arrange special endorsements for each such shipment up to the scheduled value, for a modest additional premium. One thing more - my guns are on the same Collectibles policy, as long as they are scheduled.
