I'm thinking of the SOG X-Ray Vision for my next folding knife. I've bought SOG fixed blades before, some good (Recon), some bad (Desert Dagger). Wondering if anyone has one of these knives, or any other SOG folders. Thanks.

I have one in the mail right now on its way to me, when I get it here in a few days I will let you know what I think. In the meantime, I know when I did a search on here for this knife that I came up with at least a couple good threads...so give that a try if you haven't already.

The Vision line was arguably the best folders SOG has done. I've got an X-Ray and the regular Vision and my only criticism is the clip placement makes it ride high in your pocket.

It's a great knife for the money, made in Seki Japan.

Very solid and very sharp. The blade is a
nice hefty piece of ATS-34 and the Arc-Lock is
very, very smooth. And it's a nice slim carry with
nested steel liners.

I do agree with OilMan about the clip...wierd placement.
I removed it.

Would it be worth the extra $100 or so to get the Vision, with the whole titanium deal, rather then the X-Ray? Never had a titanium grip before, do you lose any grip with the smooth metal?

I have had one for a few years. Nice blade, feels good in your hand, but the handle feels weak- very flexy if you squeeze the scales. I also found out that as much as I liked the look of the blade, it's not as handy as a good drop point. Cliff Stamp did a review (totally busted up the handle as I recall).

With all that said, if you like it, I would get it. The lock is my favorite of all my knives- fast, smooth, and doesn't bounce like the Axis lock. This knife is easy to get out, quick to open, and looks mean- it's what I carry into bad parts of town. Blade geometry aside, it still works fine for most utility needs. I would look into the titanium scales if the price is doable- I may even take a look at one myself now.

Got my X-ray in today, and overall I really do like it. I concur that the handle feels kinda sub-par, and the clip sucks. Not only does it make the knife ride weird, it is also a serious pocket shredder! At least the one I got was compared to the clips on my mini-grip, delica, and mini-cyclone. The lock is very smooth, but I don't like how far out the "studs" for the lock stick out. But that might just be because I am used to the mini-grip in which these "studs" barely stick out at all. In summary, I for sure like it, and don't regret the purchase at all. Let us know if you get it!!!

Oh, also wanted to mention that my X-ray has WAY more blade play (both horizontal and vertical) than any of the other folders I have purchased recently...but that is only a sample size of 4. Anyway, any of the rest of you have problems with blade play with the X-ray? Will it help any for me to try and tighten any of the screws or anything...or is this just the way it is going to be? It doesn't bother me too much, but it is for sure noticeable.

Thanks,
Ben

I got a Vision as EDC for 2 full yrs now. It did not have blade play what so ever. XVision should hv no blade play as well. Can you exchange it?
