Anyone have an MSAR STG-556?

I have shot one and it was nice except for the forward assist... which they have now eliminated on the newer ones. I would grab one in a heartbeat if they accepted ar15 mags... as it is now I'm just spending money on ammo for the 5 ar15's I have.

Is that a Steyr AUG by another name???

I like this one:

No its an improved AUG made by Microtech(same guys as knives) in the US.
I have handled them at shows, me like.
They have a great feel to them and the Mags are some of the best polymer I have seen.

I am not big on the Bullpup stuff, but it is pretty slick looking. I am working on getting and FAL before the end of the year, if I can find one but the time I have some $ saved up.

Don't have one but I want one! I have read all the articles about them and it was all good IMO. FYI - I have FN/FAL's and ! love them too but if size and weight is a concern, they're a lot to lug around fully loaded.

Have one of them, and picked up a FN2000 also. It shot incredible right out of the box. At 25 meters, the integral scope was perfectly zeroed to put the shots all in one hole. Trigger pull is great, balance is perfect. Put 200 rds through the first day with no malfunctions; and that was with S&B and WOLF... got it through Florida Gun exchange with the limited edition pelican case, knife.. and they had a deal where not only did you get the 10,20,30 and 42 rd. mags but they gave 5 extra thirties in to boot.. Highly recommend it.. had two origional steyr Augs, and I like it better, forward assist works great for silent chambering. FN2000 is also an excellent weapon. MSR feels a bit more secure in the hand with the forward grip compared to the massive front of the FN, but the FN with the C-more heads up sighting system also worked great. did have a few malfunctions with it. but I guess it was the break in period?? It DOES USE M16 mags, but not P-mags or anything plastic.. I highly recommend the HK 416 mags which are metal and have the improved follower. Can't use a 20rd mag in the FN.. too short.. gets stuck. honestly, of the latest firearms I've aquired.. I really like the Sig 556 commando best. great feel, great trigger, a bit front heavy, but not bad.. only get an ACE folding stock.. magpul stock had to be sent back and replaced after only a short time...
You won't regret the MSR Stg556.. Get one while you can.. they are going up. and this is only the front end of things from what word is. Wait till the exectutive order comes through banning all this stuff. Gun shops are out of everything around here...

I have one of the MSAR rifles. Got it just a couple weeks ago and LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!! I don't mind the mags being proprietary to the rifle myself. Yeah AR mags woulda been nice but I hardly whine about my Glocks not using Colt mags. Different gun=different mags :) Mine ran through 300 PMC rounds on it's 1st trip out and ran them all just fine. I tried some Wolf but had a few issues with them. I may try the other gas setting to see if that helps but for now PMC is my load of choice for the MSAR. I haven't punched any paper yet but the scope was zeroed close enough to be minute of Mt Dew bottle out past 75 yards :) I dare say that if I didn't already own an AR I probably never would after getting the MSAR! Even the wife and child love this one!

DSA I presume? Support the locals:thumbup:

Yes, on DSA fals.. I have original FN 50.64 para and springfield sar48s, "had some other stuff, but got rid of. you get what you pay for.. the lesser quality fals are not worth having if you can't stake your life on them.." My DSA have always preformed great.. I LOVE my FALs, best feeling .308 out there. DSA has a new hampton lower reciever they are making fals on that incorprates an AR15A2 style rears sight assembly, which corrects the only issue I ever had with a fal.. it's unprotected rear sights that were a pain to adjust with counter set screws.. Go DSA! and to make this actually go with the Busse threads... They look really good with you matching black on black ASh1 on your side... two indestructable tools!

Have you thought about a G3 or G36?

I found both to be great rifles and the G3 is a real nail driver. Most modern rifles i've found to have no recoil and almost feel like toys. With the G3 it certainly lets you know it's there, which for me is reassuring.

Banning this stuff will take an act of Congress; an executive order won't do it. Imports can get banned by executive order because the Gun Control Act of 1968 banned importation of whatever the Secretary of the Treasury decides isn't particularly suitable for sporting purposes. Apart from shotguns with a bore over half an inch (which the Secretary of the Treasury can declare non-sporting and classify as "destructive devices" under the 1934 NFA), there's no similar provision for domestically manufactured stuff.

I don't have any info on any upcoming ban(does anybody really?) but I do know that the MSARs took close to a $400 price jump between when I ordered mine and after the elections. Ban or no they are up in price and hard to find. Get one now when they are available or play the odds they may drop in price. My gut says they are not gonna drop in price anytime soon.

Personal thought here.. If there is an Anti 2nd amendment president in charge "clinton" now Obama. No.. he might not be able to overturn the 2nd amendment decision that we have a right to own firearms.. but he can sure make life miserable on us... We CAN have a bolt action rifle.. a revolver, but semi auto would be a no no.. it's too close to "an Assault rifle" a 500% tax on ammo.. making one's home declared an arsenal if you have more than 1,000 rds on hand.. no... he might not be able to outlaw them all together.. but executive orders can go through that make weapons non importable or non functional form. "ie. Clinton crime bill" I still say.. get them while you can.. because things will be different a year from now IMO.. if you want some interesting viewing.. watch the DVD Innocents betrayed and The Gang... some interesting intel there.

If they do that we can rise up to prevent the government from becoming a dictatorship.
Taking away or limiting the 2nd amendment is a step towards a dictatorship because its taking away the peoples tool to deffend themselves from an unjust government.
