Anyone have any TRUE Busse CUSTOMS?

I think there has been some individual custom orders as I remember seeing posts of the cost for custom work...the costs were quite high as I recall....something like $100 per inch ?

I asked about a custom Khukri and whilst it could be done I was lucky to find that the KZ was in the pipeline...the KZ was'nt cheap but a lot less expensive than doing it by way of a "custom" order.

The last "custom" project I remember reading about was a couple of SAR guys had the offer by Jerry to sketch out a design they wanted for a knife and he would make it....
never got to hear what happened on that...an update on that with pic's would be very welcome

One thing I would be interested in is whether you could order a hidden tang Res C handled blade in Infi...I quite fancy a NMFBM in 3/16 with a Res C handle...maybe others would as well;)

That's a sweeeet knife BUT not what I mean. I mean someone commissioning Busse to make them a knife that is 100% custom, not an alteration on a previously released Busse.

Absolutely. You won't see this beauty anywhere else:

This knife is now an heirloom of our family. It is far from the only 'totally custom' knife from Jerry Busse.

Yes, there are plenty of true Busse customs out there. The man is an artist and he's been around for quite awhile. What you see above is the froth at the seashore.

Here are two that Jerry made custom for me. One is a Porky Parkway and the other is a FAT Trickster Mojo.

Reading my mind again.

Actually that brings up a point that might be worth considering. As the Scrapyard warranty stops just short of being "unconditional" (by invoking the honest and hopefully rational expectations of the owner), I wonder if a Scrapyard 3/16" thick INFI machete with Res-C handle might be the answer. Perhaps "modify" the Scrapyard warranty a bit further and not guarantee the blade against taking a permanent set from lateral bending, which seems to me the primary risk in offering a broader, longer blade in a thinner profile under an unconditional warranty.

The Scrapper 12. Or perhaps, "The Battle Bitch" (only to stay in keeping with the canine theme, of course :)).

I wondered which came first. Who designed that profile?

I think Uncle Screwtape designed the Busse inspired design, and Jerry gave the design the finishing touches as he made it.

The Busse Behemoth came first.

The similar profile of the Fehrman Extreme Judgment is not coincidental.

whiskey river, old physics and ronybear, those are some sweeeeeeeeeet blades, topshelf custom work and jerry is an artist, engineer, very customer oriented. and likes gooooood beverages. you all made some very good custom choices...

Yes the Busse Behemoth came first. It was designed by Uncle Screwtape/Bachan. There was an even earlier version by another maker but I forget who it was.

IIRC, Uncle Screwtape made the Kydex model/profile (that is seen in the one photo) and sent it to Jerry for his touch. A true original:thumbup:

There may be no connection, but that knife bears a striking resemblance to a knife designed by our own Bronco and originally made by Jerry Hossom. Jerry named it the "Bronco" in Bill's honor, and its lineage can be traced through the evolution of Hossom's line to the Chainsaw model and later the Forester, which was licensed from Jerry and produced by Spyderco.

Great minds...

man, it looks like a fehrman kinfe , cool.
:D

I owned that knife for a few years.

Jerry said he would never do another, WAY too much grinding involved. Cut into his drinking time.:D:D

Anyway, the designer took the design to Fehrman and the rest is history.;)

Told me he got naming rights and the first one produced.

The Fehrman came several years after the Behemoth.

Man there are some nice blades here.
I love the wedding cake cutter--a true family heirloom.
The Behemoth--really digging it.
The large blade that looks like a bowie on steroids--ha man, a place in my heart!

I like your thinking. Although the Res-C would need to be fatter and longer than typical. Maybe almost in a SHBA configuration.

And it'd have to be the Battle B-word just to keep in the family style we have here. LOL

I'm pretty sure it was Rob Simonich...

Not sure if the small blade is a Simonich, but the mid sized is.
Here's some pics of them...

Love the name.

However, isn't 3/16 a tad thick for a machete? I keep talking up a Scrapper in 1/8" S7, 14" blade, Rec-C.

I've heard there are some 1 off Customs out there....

YES, the Dragon's Fang is a full blown custom as is the Chuckette'
