anyone have both the bench made 761 and a sebenza, preferably the 25?

I'm sure that the Benchmade 761 is a fine folder.
Having owned and carried many brands, including both Benchmade and CRK (Sebenza, Zaan) over the years, I'll keep it short.
Nothing...NOTHING compares to CRK's Sebenza in its price-range. It's really that simple.
To confirm, just look at BLADE SHOW (Atlanta) results in Manufacturing Excellence awards over the years, and you'll see what I mean. This award is given by the KNIFEMAKERS themselves.
My opinion? Certainly! But not just mine...

I think the only logical solution other than crk to produce the sebenza in M390 is to just buy all three knives the sebenza, the 761 and the zt-0562cf!

I know CRK Sebenzas are really nice, but saying their "fit and finish" is far beyond the 761 is silly in my opinion. They are a $450+ knife, so they SHOULD be perfect.

I recenty got both knives, a 761 and a large sebenza 21. Personally, I like the 761 better because of what I am used to. I prefer tip down carry, am right handed and like a faster opening blade(one handed). I almost cut my finger off trying to learn how to carefully open the sebenza. The 761 is the smoothest non assisted opener I have. It's slim, which I prefer for dress pants carry, and opens super fast. It's cheaper(I bought mine through Benchmade with a few discounts so only paid around$200). It has better steel, and mine feels sharper. The clip isn't the best but it does get the job done. I like the Sebenzas clip better.

So, if you are like me and prefer tip down, right handed carry and fast action, the 761 is the clear choice

If you prefer tip up carry, dual thumbstuds(not all sebs have this), and a manual but resistive opener, at a higher price, the sebenza might be your choice.

Again, lots of personal preferences here. The fit and finish on both knives are similar. The detent on my 761 is plenty strong. But the 761 doesn't come with a fancy card signed by benchmade:)

Ok, I am going to switch gears here. I might have found the answer to my problems. I just came across the ZT-0562cf, super smooth action, titanium frame lock, M390. What I want to know is how is the quality on these things? I know they are owned by kershaw ( kind of scares me) and how wide are they when closed? Is it something that will take up my entire pocket or can I still get my keys in there with it? Does anyone know what the blades are heat treated to? I also am looking at the zt-0392 but I have not clue what the CTS-204P steel is and how it matches up against...well anything.

The quality on my 0562 is prefect. Zero flaws but maybe I got lucky. It's an amazing knife and carries very well for a large knife. It's my only knife in m390 and so far it's pretty impressive. Im sure most will disagree with me, but I'd pick it every time over a sebenza, but then again, it's one of those knives that I look at and it has zero appeal to me.

I looked at a 761 today number 54 out of 1000. I really liked it. It was even smoother than the other one I looked at. I am torn between the zt0562cf. I can't handle the zt so I might just wait until I read a few more reviews about it.

I gotta be honest while I did enjoy owning a large classic sebby it wasn't perfect from the factory. It was duller then it should've been and that grease they put on isn't my favorite lube. It gives it a smooth yet kinda slow feel. I like glassy smooth and fast. So I resharpened it and removed the grease and hit it with some militech 1 I believe. Much much better. The only design implement I'm not a fan of is the thumbstud. I'm not a fan of that at all. It has particularly sharp edges to the grooves that tend to grab my skin in an uncomfortable way. The Scott cook lochsa on the other hand is as close to perfection I've found in a similar form. If you ever get the chance to buy one which ain't that likely I suggest you do. I know I will.

Thats the action I like too, like I said I have not handled and ZT but that 761 was FAST, faster than any assisted knife I have.

If you're considering a flipper, the ZT 0801 just came out in s110v! The 0801 is super fast and smooth. Just awesome opener.

I own a 25 and a 761 and if I could have only one, it would be the 761. The 761 blade steel is better and properly hardened (detent is strong on mine and blade will not shake out). Also, the Sebenza clip is pretty flimsy and the knife can back out of the pocket; not an issue with the stout 761 clip. Tip down only doesn't bother me, as I carried a Millie for over a year and got used to it.

They are both nice knives to own. For admiring f&f details, the 25 is great; for pocket carry and use, the 761 easily wins for me. Good luck in your decision.

Also keep in mind that a used Sebenza 25 can be found for the same money on the exchange. I've seen them as low as $300. At that point it's a no brainier in my book. You can never go wrong with a CRK.

Even though I like my 761, I ve had the lock up loosen twice with lock rock since I ve had it . Great steel and good ergonomics though if you don t mind tip up carry.
My sebenza 25 has a blade that is very slightly off center so it s not perfect in fit and finish, but it is rock solid and very well built. Even with lesser steel, it s a much better knife. If you can find a used one for almost the same price, it is a no brainer.

I think that all these knives have a problem here or there. The only flaw I see with the sebenza is the steel. Even if it was heat treated a bit harder. I think the zt0562cf and 761 are in my future
