I'm not sure if this is the right place... but I recently picked up my first higher end knife, an SNG.. and I am pleased enough with it to pick up another (thanks, in part, to a sizable x-mas bonus)... while I am considering an SMF or a GG SNG.. I like trying new things... So my primary choices fall to a lg sebbie 21... and the umnumzaan...

I realize everyone feels differently about these, but given I have a pretty heavy duty use SNG... I think the sebbie may be a better compliment? I was wondering if the people who had both, or have both, could chime in? just give me your thoughts on each knife, I want to try to relate how I will use it to your views... I cannot hold either prior to purchase...

Thank You in advance...

I've owned an Umnumzaan, a Lg Regular Sebbie(recently discontinued) and and Lg Sebbie 2000s which are almost identical to the Sebbie 21. All were excellent knives. I'd grade the Umnumzaan superior to the Sebbies although the Lg Regular Sebbie comes close.

If you're looking for something a little fancy then a 21 with inlays or graphics would be a great choice. If you want best CRK folder the Umnumzaan would be my choice.

Own both (left-handed versions,) like both, but prefer the Sebenza a little more. It's just a little easier for me to open/close.

FWIW, it's my current EDC.

I don't own both, but when I bought my Umnumzaan I was lucky enough to find a vendor that had both knives to compare before making a decision.
It wasn't an easy choice and i was very close to buying the Seb, but my wife who is completely unbiased picked the Umnumzaan. I asked her why she liked Umnumzaan over the Seb. She said between the two knives the Umnumzaan looked more like a high end knife. But the one feature she liked more than anything else was the "noiseless" lock ( no click when it's locked open). So I bought the Umnumzaan ....

Here's the one thing I liked about the Seb over the Umnumzaan... the radiused blade spine. Other than that I liked the size , blade shape and style of the Umnumzaan. But they are both fine knives.

I've had both, but neither now, although I have a large Sebenza 21 w/African Blackwood arriving tomorrow! That said, I liked both equally well, but with the option of the wood inlays, which I simply love, it was the large Seb all the way. I do intend to get another Umnumzaan after Christmas is over and done with.

Btw, the woods that CRK uses are stabilized and are very tough and can be used for everyday carry, which will be the fate of mine. The woods fit into a milled pocket in the titanium and are held with a 3M product, two sided tape, that is used on the Space Shuttle to hold on the ceramic tiles. Never had a problem with any of the woodies I had in the past.:thumbup::)

I've got an Umnum and large Regular Seb. If I had to choose one, I think I'd have to go with the Sebenza. I really like the Umnum, and choose it over the Sebenza some days, but the Sebenza is a PERFECT knife in every way. Find yourself a large Regular and you'll never be dissapointed!

in my professional opinion as a professional, you should sell the strider and then buy both the sebenza and the umnumzaan.
