Was looking at buying something different while browsing The Khukuri House and was struck by the Survival Knife (Live) Model, 6" blade fixed, especially with their optional kydex sheath.

Inquired about it and found out it's made of 52100 steel rather than their standard 5160 they use for their Khuk's which I know from experience is pretty decent.

So anyone have any experience with products from KHHI made of 52100 also known as En-31 Steel?

I learned that for their smaller and more modern non khukuri designs they opt to use 52100 as opposed to 5160.

Thanks.

I do not know about Khukuri House in particular, but my buddy in Montana has hand-forged 3 knives for me using 52100 steel, and each of them are a dream to use and handle. They keep a FANTASTIC edge, are easy to maintain, and are just very sturdy knives.

Mine are all traditional Scottish sgian dubh-style knives, and the picture below is the only one I keep in my bag at all times.
