Anyone have info on 20CV steel?

Latrobe's 20CV is the same as Bohler M390 and Carpenter CTS-204P. I believe M390 is the original. Latrobe doesn't have their own PM plant, so someone else makes it for them. Who can guess which one?

I think kershaw would make this much more affordable. any idea when they will use it?

according to Rick its tougher than S30V, sharpens easier but hold its edge about as long, its seems to me though that it takes a keener edge than S30V too.

I love this steel in my XM! To me it is THE steel.

Easy to work with, great edge retention, super tough, easy to sharpen, and highly rust/corrosion resistant.

Now you've gone and gotten me all excited!

Rick shipped out my XM yesterday! Can't wait to try out this steel.

Is 20CV all that Rick Hinderer uses on his XM-18s?

no. sorry but I cannot remember what else he uses, but he has used some other steels.

out of curiosity I have heard that 20CV polishes well compared to s30v, can anyone comment on that?

i'm waiting, waiting,& waiting on my sog team leader in this alloy. supposed to be close to s30v but tougher. will test mine & give a report. hope it doe'st dissapoint me.
