None of the comments in this thread surprises me. The Regulator began life as a fighter . . . pure and simple. And at 14.5 oz, the Test Team Regulator was a great fighter . . . incredibly well-balanced and quick in the hand. But based on the feedback he received from the Test Team and his comments prior to the release, it appears that Dan decided to try to turn the Regulator into a chopper. After all, how many civilians need a fighter? As some have noted, however, far more effective chopper designs exist than a 7.5"-long, 1/3"-thick, 16 oz Bowie with an extended clip-point blade.
While some may find the Military Regulator's compromise between a fighter and a chopper appealing, the knife is neither here nor there for me. It's too blade heavy to be a good fighter and too thick and narrow to be a good chopper. The only thing I find appealing about it is its price.
The Regulator LE is a different story, however. As Bob mentioned, it seems to be a resurrected Test Team Regulator with a satin finish. If that's the case, then as far as I'm concerned, it's the knife the Regulator was meant to be all along . . . a FIGHTER! And if it's priced right, it's a must have for Bussekin fighter afficianados who don't already have a Test Team Regulator.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!  My only regret is that it will probably never see the light of day in the Scrap Yard store.
