I saw this at cabelas one time thought of it as being a stupid knife but I've had second thoughts. It's like it'd be an awesome camp tool, but I'm not so sure. It made with D2 tempered at 58-59, is that soft enough for chopping and whacking while still keeping a D2 edge? Another thing is that it has an angled handle is this uncomfortable? I've heard good things about knives of alaska, they seem like good quality and most of them are made with D2 steel. And shots of you holding would also be great because the desriptions on the site are a little vague. Thanks.

I have had quite a few KOA including the one you are talking about, I don't think anyone does a better job with D2 than KOA.

I know this isnt about the knife you are looking for, I will give you my thoughts on the experiences I have with KoA.
The only KoA knives I have are the cub bear and the camp knife. The smaller cub bear is made out of 440 while the larger camp is made from D2. Initially I used the camp knife and was very satisfied. However sharpening by hand made me almost hate this knife. Recently I invested in one of the paper wheels that richard J recommends, and it made me change my mind yet again about the knife.
The leather sheath it came with is well made too.
I hope this helps to get a since of the size.

I presently have only the little KOA Muskrat Skinner (beavertail design) in D2. It holds a great edge and I've had no problems sharpening it. As noted above, the sheath is decent too.
