I would like to know if Microtech is getting out of the Manual action knives business. Anyone have any inside info?

All i know is that the Amphibian is gone.

I read somewhere that the manual LCC is not being made any more (this true?).

They dont seem to be rolling out the Mini Socom E manual in a hury (not that i would buy it).

Are they just going to concentrate on their Auto lines?

I really like MT manuals, and i hope that there are more to come.

From the horses mouth at MT:

No more manuals are in the pipeline.

They are concentrating on the police and military markets with their autos at this time.

They may eventually bring back some MA models but nothing in the near future.

I have an UMS to test for them soon on the www.folders-r-us.org site. Results should be reported on by years end with luck.

This info as of two months ago.

That dissapoints me. I like Auto's as much as the next guy, but i NEVER carry them.

Too bad i really like MT's above all others.

I kind of got the feeling that the manuals were on there way out at MT. Too bad, I liked the Socom Elite MA with the stonewashed blade. :(

That sucks BIG TIME. I can't carry autos where I live. Why would MT abandon their customers like this?

It's like they're saying "if you can't carry an auto, we don't want you as a customer".

Bad move on their part. There's a much bigger market for manuals. I don't think this bodes well for them at all.

Roadrunner:

I mentioned the big market for MA's, the powers that be are concentrating on the military and police markets.

They make a great knife, I'm not sure they abandoned the civilians forever, or even plan to, it's more likely that they are at max output on the autos and phased the ma's out to fill demand on the other end at this time.

They are aware of the civilian market and the demand. It's not taking priority right now for some reason unstated, but not asked either.

One of the best knives I own is the lg. socom ma. I quit carrying it when I could not get another.

The LCC ma has suffered the same fate and is no longer in the edc rotation schedule.

I'm with you guys, I hope they bring em back.

Well, we got some Camo Manuals coming out like the Amphibian.. Then we got the Socom Elite Manual action framelocks (Hopefully).. We are starting to see some more Camo and limited edition Balis like the Blackfly, Desertfly and Camofly. MT is also going to be releasing some new fixed blades sometime in the near future. So for those not into autos, there is still allot to look forward to :)

Actually, when you think about it.. There not really giving up any manuals as such. The Socom and Socom Elites are out of production all together so lack of manuals on this model are not uncommon.

Tony had a falling out with Greg Lightfoot, so that why we will not see any LCCs D/A or M/A out of them

The Amphibians Auto and Manual are out of production, but they are putting out some limited edition manual models as mentioned above

The Medallions are still around I suppose and they have some Dagger logo hand ground models that will be around here and there with leather horse hide sheaths

The Option II was never a big seller, so they are not really being made anymore

So its not SO bad. It just seems all the manual models are fading out in auto form too. I bet we will see some Manual action Terzuola's sometime soon. As a matter of fact I am sure that I read about a limited run of manuals coming out as an exclusive for somebody

I REALLY hope they come out with some manual knives, otherwise they are nonexistent to me. MT has plenty of awesome autos, but I can't carry an auto so I have no choice. If they quit making manuals, I will not me buying any more Microtechs, period. (and that is a damned crying shame!)

Anybody at Microtech out there listening? What the hell?! WE NEED YOU TO SELL MANUAL ACTION KNIVES!!!! (hear that?)

Then we got the Socom Elite Manual action framelocks (Hopefully)..

I'll believe it when I see it! I have been looking like crazy, asking everybody I know who's "in the know" and NOBODY has these. Are they really going to be realeased? I see plenty of the autos, but have not seen one single manual yet. Seems like a nice knife.. I'd like to buy one please!!!!

I'm with Roadrunner - There IS a much bigger market for manuals. What the hell are they thinking?!

I haven't heard of any plans to scrape the project. Then again, I heard they were tooling up for it months ago. So you never know!! MT time and regular Zulu time are not exactly the same:D

I will do my best to get the lowdown on the framelock version this upcoming week. I understand how you guys feel and I think we will see many more manuals from MT in the future. I am looking forward to there new fixed blades. But you gotta remember, The Manual market may be ALLOT bigger, but they really don't have any competion when it comes to the OTF market.

I really like Microtech manual action knives (my EDC consists of either a SOCOM M/A or a SOCOM Elite M/A), and I'm just waiting for the manual action framelock mini SOCOM Elite to come out, so any information concering that would be appreciated.

. So, are they going to do the full-size model in framelock too?

I have personally never heard of any plans for a full size. I WISH they would make a full sized framelock:eek: :)

I'd LOVE to have a full sized Socom framelock!!!!!!!!! MT, are you listening? I know LOTS of people who'd be willing to buy one of those.

The MT Socom Elite M/A Mini is already being advertised by dealers in the major knife mags, so it would really be a major screwing of their big dealers if they ditched the project after all the hype.

They have always had some bizzare marketing practices in the past, but this would take it to a new level.

I love their products, but dislike the schizophrenic marketing attitude.:(
