Anyone have their tube fasteners bend?

I am wondering how many people have had their handles shift on their Busses. I had a set shift years ago from batoning the knife and hitting the handle, that's the reason for the question.

I'm not sure why Jerry went from screws to tubes, but I'm sure it wouldn't be to hard to modify myself into screws. This is not a troll post. I just have a knife on order and wanted to know how common it is. :)

If your batoning the handles your doing it wrong. Keep it up on the spine of the blade and use a rubber or plastic mallet or a piece of wood. It would take repeated blows to break those tube fasteners loose.

If your concerned about it, yes you can cut the tube fasteners off and put in connectors and use screws.

I suppose batoning the handle could do it. If that ever happens you can always send the knife in and we will realign the handle for you.

I'm sure it was unintentional.
But now that I think about it, I have struck the handle when splitting larger chunks with a smaller knife.
I know I should have fashioned a wedge but didn't.

It is also possible to shift the scales when throwing the knife. Several folks have reported this. Not to worry, Busse will fix it.

In all my years I've only seen a hand full that talked of a shift in the tubes, and all of them were because of severe use. Throwing or beating on it in the handle area. I've beaten the holy crap out of a few of mine, never thrown one, and never had one shift or come loose. Not for lack of trying though. :) I'd say never throw a perfectly good knife away. :p

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Yeah, I know your not supposed to hit the handles but the log was too wide for the FBM. I did send it back and Jerry did fix it. Maybe that set wasn't all that tight for some reason. They loosened up after only about 30 minutes the first day I got it.

Every company that makes anything will eventually have something go out the door not perfect. Good to know about the handles though. Thanks guys.

Got mine to bend, but that happened from throwing it

I shifted the scales on a NMFBM beating it with a stick.
A few well placed blows with the same stick smoothed them right out and never had a problem with them again.

Yes I have, but only because I throw my knives and every once and a while I ding the handle . I bought screws to replace the tubes on my FBMs which is nice because I'm able to switch out the handles. I'll post pics later today. I also recently bought the tubes to replace them but not sure I want to make them permanent. I think they nice thing or should I say, wisdom behind using the tubes is that they will bend before the handle breaks. Now, I've never seen a handle break but I can imagine if you have them on really tight and you hit it hard enough it can possibly break it  not sure thought just my 2 cents.

It's also a lot easier to use tubes than screws when you offer so many different models and thicknesses. I would pay extra for the screw option. I would love to see your pics! :)

If it is really a concern put a screw setup in the tube fastener right from the start. I`m sure with some looking you could find something that would fit nicely and then they would be much harder to bend. I think screw on scales would be fun but it is nice to be forced to leave them alone , I mess with stuff too much so permanent scales keeps me from screwing things up ;)

Here they are.... not the best pics but it's all I have for now.

Both these are interchangeable handles:
