A knife that expensive should be perfect!
The BladeForums.com 2024 Traditional Knife is ready to order! See this thread for details:
https://www.bladeforums.com/threads/bladeforums-2024-traditional-knife.2003187/
Price is $300 $250 ea (shipped within CONUS). If you live outside the US, I will contact you after your order for extra shipping charges.
Order here: https://www.bladeforums.com/help/2024-traditional/ - Order as many as you like, we have plenty.
I’d send it back and get a new one. But the Spartan blades are excellent users. The SHF feels like an extension of the hand. You would most certainly enjoy using it, it’s a lifetime and heirloom quality knife. Use it in good faith![]()
Thanks for the input everyone!
I called the dealer today and they were a huge help. He checked other examples and found me one that has no marks. I’m sending this in for a exchange.
He did say a couple others had the same marks but not as bad. If I planned to use this and not a collectors piece I’d let it slide. I’m planning to buy a plain jane as a user. I like this knife that much.
My willingness to accept goods that are less than perfect is in step with the amount of money being charged for them.
In other words, if you want $50 for a $25 steak, it better not be - chewy"...
Good call and glad it appears to work itself out! That fact that you started the thread to me means that it would always nag you in the back of your mind.
The SHF is a damn fine knife, you deserve to get one that meets all your expectations.
I'm of two minds here. 1st if you spend that much then it needs to be as close to perfect and man can make anything. On the other hand I think everyone is too damn picky about everything today. Much of that comes from "unboxing" mentality & video's. Lets face it if your going to make a video of taking a knife out of it's box, then you NEED to find something wrong so you have something to say. Or, what's the point of the damn video in the first place? In the end you need to do what's best for you and to heck with what everyone else thinks.
