Anyone hear from or receive product from hand amercan?

I was not trying to be nasty towards the man and if something I said sounded that way it wasn't meant to. I think I have been pretty patient and even on the phone I was very friendly. Maybe I should have sounded a little more frustrated?

The only reason I asked about another source is because I have read and been told that his product is the best. If that is the case I will wait until I can get it. If other places have a product just as good then I will go elsewhere. I have not had any luck with stropping so far so I wanted to get the best product I could to hopefully get much better results. I will call and give him one more shot.

Sorry if I have been beating a dead horse and my intention was not to drag the man and his company through the mud.

I don't think you sounded nasty at all. Just sounded as frustrated as I used to get when dealing with that company.

There is no question in my mind that if HandAmerican had the customer service to match their products, it would be the very best sharpening supply store on the Internet. With the exception of curved slip stones needed by wood carvers, HA carries, in one central location, just about all the excellent products needed for final sharpening. One-stop shopping.

But it doesn't... and won't be. Today there are just too many other choices.

I ordered Dec 28. Shipped yesterday. He overnighted or two dayed it and sent me the tracking number. I called and emailed. He responded to my email in about 5 hours. Im patient, so its all good.

He's in Plainfield, NJ so unless it's shipping from somewhere else you should get it in a day, two at most.

I have used Dave's (the owner of JKS) various products for years. He is dedicated to sharpening, and tests everything he sells extensively, uses what he sells in his sharpening business, and stands behind what he recommends and sells. He sold HA products prior to developing his own. Whether it is 'better' or not is a but subjective, but its a quality product and I think you would be more than happy with his products and service.

I get my diamond paste (0.5 micron) from www.toolsforworkingwood.com , but tons of places carry the stuff.

As cbwx34 and ryan9977 have said, that Dave Martell/Japanese Knife Sharpening is very good with customer service and is always trying to find the best sharpening and polishing products both for himself and for his customers. He was one of the first in the states to sell Naniwa Chosera (the be-all/end-all line of waterstones) and the first to change his store's inventory when he found stones that work better (and cost less).
 
Just wanted to say that I spoke with Keith late Friday afternoon and he apologized and said he would try to get it packed up and shipped out on Saturday and he said he would take care of me whatever that means.

However, I checked my credit card and I still do not have a charge on it as of noon Tuesday. So we will see what happens this time. He is very good about answering the phone and has answered every time I have called but getting things shipped is another story.

I placed an order with him about 2 hours ago for a 4 oz bottle of 1 micron diamond spray via credit card. I called him up before hand and spoke with him about his shipping and he said he would ship it out tomorrow and it should be here by friday. He sounded very nice and honest. I hope it works out. I will repost here when i receive it. Lets hope all goes well
 
Keith is very nice and very honest. He just gets very buried and very backlogged.

I've also had no real trouble in contacting him. I call during the hours posted on his website and he either answers or I leave a message and he returns my call.
 
in this economy there is NO excuse for this kind of business. Absolutely ridiculous no matter how good your products are. When you accept this as a " standard" of business- it lowers expectations and should not be acceptable. You are the CONSUMER. If the guy had told you - " hey-I'll get to you in a couple months" - you would have told him never mind-I'll look around. This is absolutely ridiculous and after reading this I will never do any business with this character. Just my thoughts-Thanks
 
Did you ever get your spray?

No spray and no contact. I paid for the spray thru Paypal on Dec 8. I guess I'm going to have to try a little harder to get a hold of him even though I don't feel like I should have to.
 
He has always conducted his biz this way. I have read these same things about HA for years. I also have had an order that i had to really push to get sent to me. Even though a free bee was sent along with my order it was enough for me to go to other places for my sharpening stuff. Truthfully I'm amazed anyone even tries to order from HA anymore.

I had no problem getting a hold of him on the phone today. I called him twice actually. Ya you shouldnt have to but u might as well if it means getting what you paid for. I hope he ships mine out tomorrow like he said he would. Would be real nice
