Has anyone ever heard of a Busse knife failing? I'm sure that it could be done but who has that much C4?

Seriously, I don't think I've EVER heard of a catastrophic failure of a Busse knife. Does nuclear toughness have a limit?

Thanks in advance,

Briant,

Jerry could probably answer this one directly by sharing some of the warranty items that have come up. It would probably be good to discuss this as it would help keep the rest of us from making the same boneheaded mistakes. Can't imagine what, short of pure abuse, could damage one of these knives - this may become an interesting discussion.

In the annals of Busse Combat history, I am one of the only cases where this has occurred, causing Jerry to make any knife he sends to me for my own use..."Prisco-Proof".

When preparing for a hog hunt in the Fall of 94', I was using a double edged dagger as a throwing knife which Jerry called the "Flame Dagger". It was a BEAUTIFUL double edged, 12" OAL, A-2 fighting knife...where Jerry knocked the sharp edge off of one side for me to be able to throw it from the blade.

Those of you who are familiar with throwing knives know that a double edged fighting knife is the ABSOLUTE WEAKEST DESIGN for a thrower, but I was after penetration into a soft target...not strength, per se.

After at least 300-400 practice throws...with NO BENDING, I might add...the knife finally snapped. He still curses me today for doing that...because he stayed up ALL night making me another thrower for my hunt...which is called the Apache, and it might become a model in the future.

Anyway, the Apache clanged off the hog's head when it charged me. After I was tractored out of the preserve, I noticed that while my ankle was broken, the knife was fine. Prisco-Proof.

This was completely filmed and I might make the video available for sale, as it is the only hog hunt with throwing knives, to my understanding, that was recorded on tape.

Did you bring home any pork?

Sounds like a great video for the Blade Show in June. Set up a TV at Jerry's booth and let it run!
