I have an opportunity to purchase a knife made by A.K.Daniels. The knife looks great, the sheath is fine, the price seems reasonable. Has anyone ever heard of him? If so, which steel does he normally use?
Thanks for any help-
Paul

"Jack Daniels" is the only Daniels I know, sorry but I just had to get that one in. Have a good day !

Ptpalpha,

Alex Daniels is a very well known maker of Historical Bowie Knife reproductions. Highly collectable. Very cool knives with authentic shapes and grinds. I think these are mostly done in stainless steel because they are primarily considered Art knives. I am not familiar with his other work, but I am sure it is top notch. What is the style of the blade you are considering?

Dr. Lathe, I would love to hear some of what you have to say about Mr. Daniel's work in your 'long winded email'. Also, what do think of Roger Green's work?

Paracelus,
The long winded Email was mainly about meeting Alex Daniels at the Florida Knifemakers ASSC. show last year. He not only makes beautiful knives, he also makes heat treat ovens! He was also very generous with information about ovens and heat treating in general.
Neil
EDIT: I have never seen any of Roger Greens work.

Very good knifemaker. I can ramble on but the above statement would about sum it all up anyway.
I doubt you'll be unhappy with the workmanship.
