I was picking around the junk shop down the street when I found this nice little axe head. It was so rusted and covered in gunk that you couldn't make out any markings. I've been out in the garage sanding it down and the name RUHR, W. GERMANY came through.

I did some searches on Yahoo and Google however I find nothing on Ruhr axes. Thought I would ask you guys if anyone has every heard of one.

I don't think that's a brand name, but a location.

The Ruhr is the great industrial area of Germany.

Thank you,

Interesting. That's the only marking on it. When I get it cleaned up a little more I'll take a better picture. See if we can put a name to it.

I found this head and a great handle to put on it for $4.00. Can't beat that for a little project.

I didn't take any pictures of this when I first brought it home and only thought to post pictures up here when I found the "Ruhr, W. Germany. But since I did I thought I would show some completed pictures. Not bad for a $4.00 investment.
