I normally research before I buy, but, ok, this was a more or less spontaneous buy. I was nodding off with the phone, and decided to hit the buy button while snooping the river site, just before the snoring started. Anyone here have one ? Good wood processor ?, fit an XL hand ? Kriste, I feel like a drunk that woke up with an unknown chick beside him. I wasn't even looking for a Kukri !, lol.

No I haven't got that one . But have looked at it a couple of times but I went for two with more traditional handles . I would be really interested on your thoughts of it and how it feels in the hand when it arrives . Some times them spontaneous buys work out well :)

Will try to buddy. It left Nepal the same day and passed through Hong Kong customs. Seems to be moving quickly so far.

I have that one. It is a great piece, however I have heard some people have issues with the sheath. Mine was absolutely fine. I got mine on Amazon as it was only 40 dollars through them.

Thanks for the heads up buddy, it sounds like a good one. Amazon Canada bent me for $90 on this one. Should be worth it though

My buddy has one which I have used pretty extensively as a camping/all purpose outdoors blade, where it did pretty well. The blade steel is very soft though, the edge ended up rolling in several places and it loses an edge fast (and it has pretty bad rust). The handle is very large and comfortable, no real hotspots. It's not too grippy though. It came with some sort of plasticy rawhide sheath- it seems durable enough, and has kind of "meh" retention. Obviously a khukri is a different animal than your traditional woods blade but it is worth a try.

That's a great story and I count myself lucky that has not happened to me....yet anyways lol. At least it's not a bad looking blade. Let us know what you think with some new pics! I admit I'm curious lol

Thanks. Overall it sounds about right. Hand made out of reasonably decent materials, skills and knowledge. I remember thinking about kukris years ago and passed because I got into axes and hatchets. It should be great fun to whack some fire wood with it.

This model is essentially a basic military model that goes by many names; Service No.1, BAS, BSI, or Jungle. The blades are usually good and are made to be utility users. The handles on many of these models are in response to customer requests and are not the tried and true traditional designs. For sure none of these new handle design models are issued to any military unit, it's just a marketing tool.

The gripper handle initially makes some people that are not familure with the kukri feel comfortable, but they start "gripping" the handle harder than the kukri is meant to be gripped and end up with hot spots. Some people like them, some don't. It comes down to personal preference and how much you end up using it.

Hope you enjoy it!
