Anyone here own a cold steel sword and how do they hold up??

Those are brand new so I doubt many will have experience with them just yet. If they're anything like their smallsword they should be quite tough though. :)

I have had 6 different CS blades, and beat the living tar out of them. All of them held the edge well, outcut a few high$$ ones and not one break in any of them. The biggest problem any swordmaker has with their blades is *Misuse* Swords are Not axes, prybars, hatchets, or made to hack timber. From all of the damage to swords I have seen has been from wackin trees, tables, 55 gal. drums, ect. Swords are and allways have been a self protection or offensive sharp edged weapon, used to stop an attacker, or in cutting demos, (I've done a bunch of demos) 90+% of sword dammage comes from thinking *boy its a big sword, lets chop down that tree* Bad thinking. The owners in days that these weapons were needed, took the very best care of them, and used the axe for the choping. A sword is anti personal, not anti tree tool. I tryed the grosse messer and it went through watermelons like air. One just standing on edge, was cut in two, and never moved after a hit. A melon is close to a human so I feel bad for any person that invaded a home with a person armed with a good sword. My 2 cents. edgy
