Anyone here use DMT diasharp stones to flatten blanks?

Just curious since a lot of folks use em to flatten their stones as they are supposedly are within a thousandth and stay flat.

Here's the idea i want to try(unless people here have tried already and say it sucks!): drill a couple deeply countersunk holes in the blade tang and use drywall screw to hold the blank to a 2x4 i have clamped to my bench. The heads of the screws are below flush so they wont hit the stone. Might be a pretty simple, cost effective way to get a flat blank without buying another $500 powered shop tool and loads of sand paper?

It works but you have to use a light hand to keep from breaking the diamonds off. I use it for folder blades to hlpe flatten not straight knies.

I will often use a 4" x 10" DMT benchstone for final stage flattening of smaller fixed blades. No need for the extra holes and the screws though. I use a 2 x 4 and a little Spray Mount glue to hold the knife blade against the underside of the wood whilst I work it on the big DMT. You don't need the glue to be capable of holding the blade on the underside against gravity, just use enough to prevent it sliding about while you work it.
As Argel says, don't use too much pressure. Just a gently pressure will allow the hone to do it's work without being damaged too quickly.

I lap everything on a diamond stone. You need to lap even before you surface grind on one side or the chuck will pull in down uneven.
