Anyone in Illinois....

I will be traveling to Chicago/burbs tomorrow and was wondering what I should do about my EDC (Microtech LCC). I hate the idea of leaving it behind, but I don't want to get it confiscated or break any laws. Is it illegal to carry this clipped to my pocket? (In Arizona, a knife isn't concealed if the clip is visable)

Aside from cops, can a security guard at, say, a museum take it from me?

Thanks for an info/advice you can offer!

Most of Illinois does not have a formal blade limit. The law says that a knife over 3" can be considered a weapon if carried with that intent. Chicago, however, has a 2.5" law I believe. You better leave your large knives at home. I don't think that a clip is an issue but I don't know.

Hi, I live far South of Chicago, but work up near the city. I have never had a problem carrying a knife in Illinois, even when getting pulled over for a ticket. If you stay under 3" you should be fine. I think "they" have much worse things to worry about up there than pocket knives. Enjoy your visit! ...Ed.

Thanks people! I guess I'll carry most of the time, but leave it behind when I go into any clubs or "iffy" places. Can't wait for the trip. Thanks again!
