Just wanted to know whether you were taxed for your knives when you ordered 'em?

Also, was the shipping excessive?

I've purchased plenty from the US, from production knives, through custom & billets/blanks for me to use. Via websites, personal contact & ebay & the main consideration is, get the product weighed by the vendor (or go to the manufacturers site to find the weight) this should then give you an idea of shipping charges (I use www.parcelforce.com as a guide) &, of course, the dreaded customs import duty, the details of which escape me, but, the gist is this: If the value of the goods (gift or not, doesn't matter) is over £40.00, then you get stung! You could always ask the Vendor to put a low value on the package (some do as a matter of course;) ) but, some may feel offended if you ask (your call) Personally I take it on the chin, but it was a bit of a shock when, after forking out for a pair of customs to the value of @ $1500 inc shipping, I get hit for a whopping £240.00 bill by Parcel force & customs:eek:

Any problems, try www.britishblades.com, or email me & someone will tender the correct info:)

Point44 - far too many times for my credit card :D

If you do get caught by customs the breakdown is something like this:

9% import duty cost of goods plus carriage
17.5% VAT on top of the whole lot
plus clearance fee from parcel force £7.75

I just got stung for an AFCK coming back from Benchmade via a warranty service and got a bill for £27.25 on a declared value of $100

On shipping I pay between $26 -32 usually depening on weight from the kinfecenter of the internet.

I have dealt with them for over 5 years now and dont get many problems at all.

That's what i thought...i've never bought a knife from there yet but i have bought some other stuff and the tax just killed me...

I just find it annoying that i have to pay double for a blade here compared to the US...
