Anyone interested in a H.I. Yataghan?

Bill & fellow Khukaholics,

I am very interested in a HI Yataghan, but I can't commit to one right now. I have a son on the way (my first), and right now he has bumped all my priorities (including my blade addiction) down one notch. I hope to be able to order one of these in the near future though, so put me down on the "Yes, soon, God-willing" list.

The spirit is willing but the wallet is weak. (or something like that)

Just a thought: since most of the baby furniture, baby clothes, baby food, etc. will be paid for with my khukuri money, shouldn't he be named after a khuk in all fairness? Khukuriah, Sirupatrick, Chiruwalter...you get the idea. Anyway, sorry--I digress.

Howard: on the use of coral and turquoise, I can see coral being bartered into Nepal, but is there any turquoise on the asian subcontinent? If anyone ever told me turquoise was found outside the North American west I wasn't listening.

( So I'm geologically challenged. I was more interested in anatomy than stratified versus igneous rock when I was in high school. )

Rusty,

Hi - my first post to this forum - but I read it avidly!
You will find that turqoise is by far the most favored semi-precious stone used in most Arabic and mid-eastern countries including Tibet, Nepal and western portions of China. If you do a search on the net for tibetan imports you will find huge quantities of massive (makes navajo jewelry look petite) silver/turq./coral jewelry being imported from that region! :-)

X-Head,

I feel for ya because I'm in the same boat. My son is due in just over a month, though I have a 3yr old daughter so my fun money has been curtailed for a while already

I definitely agree with you about the name, but you'll never slip those names past your wife. Get one of those books that give the origin of names and you find some interesting stuff ... example: Brendon is German for "sword blade" as I recall. go through the list looking for references to: swords, blades, warrior, etc and give your wife a list of the names you like. She'll never suspect a thing

Btw, my condolences on the curtailing of you knife money; congratulations on your future son; and the best of luck with both!

Dave.
