I am not sure how this works and with zero threads I'm not too confident that any traffic is here. Let's try anyhow though.
I have a knife design, inspired by many knives I have seen and used. This knife would be 8.5 inches overall with about 4.5 inches of blade. The handle is contoured and rather curvy. I'm thinking somewhere around .15 to.17 blade thickness. I want it to be tough but useful so not overly thick in the blade. Full tang. Steel is variable to me, but I was thinking carbon to save money. I have had good luck with A-2 and some others. I would consider stainless, but I want it to be easy to sharpen. Finish would be satin and I tend to like convex grinds.
Handle material probably micarta and I would like liners to make it pop a bit.
I have drawings of my final blade and many iterations of the evolution of the final design. I would be curious to know if my design has potential or if tweaks need to be made so a conversation would be welcome about that.
The knife is meant as a camp/utility blade and, except for the curvy shape and handle contours, does not need to be mega fancy at all. I am, however looking for a clean finished look.
I have seen numerous wonderful examples of knives for sale that have some of the qualities of my design. Most were just under $200 with a sheath. I would like to keep things close to that with a leather dangler sheath.
Any thoughts?
Just as a note, I have contacted one make around here directly and have not heard back yet. In fairness, it has not been an unreasonable amount of time to wait, but in the interim, I found this sub-forum. I am not trying to be disrespectful by posting here as well. I'm not familiar with protocol for this....
