I just got my first carhartt jacket. It was on sale so i picked one up and it sure is warm and toasty. Anyone have any opinions on carhartt?

I have a Carhartt jacket and several pairs of pants. Love the stuff.

The pants are their denim Levi's replacements. Better made, cheaper, and more comfortable IMHO. I think they're made in USA, too?

Boy do I. For about the last ten years I have worn their overalls in my work as a remodel contractor. Excellent materials and construction. Usually purchase five pairs at a time on line. In washing though I never send them through the dryer, always hung out or up depending on weather. Great product!!

I think they make very good quality clothing. Their canvas shorts and pants are great. I recently bought one of their medium weight hoodies and it's super. I might get a heavy weight one, although here in NC we've been getting disappointingly warm winters forever and hellishly hot spring/summer/falls so I might try to just save my money for yet another pair of shorts.
What I really admire about Carhartt is the superfluous "t" at the end of their name... just kidding. What I really like about Carhartt is that they design clothing that's meant to be worn. It's not like Nike or Adidas, where you don't know if they are just churning stuff out for the individuals who want to wear logos and not care about the quality of the garment.
Yeah, I like Carhartt.

Carhartt pants, shirt, vest, and jacket almost every day (depending on weather of course). Can't beat it if you WORK for a living. I live in Maine and the winters can be brutal here. I use the Arctic jacket and bibs outdoors all winter.

I have a Carhart jacket. Keeps me warm and dry during those pesky winter snowstorms.

I'm wearin' a pair of Carhartt jeans right now. They beat the hell out of Levis and are alot cheaper.

I like Carhartt- generally more expensive than I would prefer to pay. I have an Arctic Coat from the 90's that was $36 (at Dicks) when they were closing out the brand way back when.Despite some wear, that jacket still works well.

In general Carhartt stuff does cost a little more than others, but they last a long time for me and the construction is superior to most other work/outdoor clothes I have seen. Like Dann I think their jeans are great buys compared to any other brand.

My jeans have lasted longer than 3 pairs of Lee's and at least one Levi 501 that are in my "rotation".

(I like button flys since they give you 5 chances to change your mind, wish they made them. :D)

They have an outlet an hour up the road from Bastidville and was up there last weekend, but could not find and 34/29 jeans :grumpy: so I settled for some Lee's that will be worn out in 9 months to a year.

I have a pair of their jeans, I like them. I also think it might be a good idea not to sponsor Levi's pro-gun control efforts...

What's the best place to buy them online?

stuff lasts forever -had a blanket lined coat 20 years ago that i abused for 7-8 years working on cars in the winter-full of holes from battery acid, grease and the blanket was worn away-bought a new one and gave it to a freind who had it for a few years-
found a catalog a few years ago with artic coats for 60 $,dicks wanted over 120$

have some bibs that are over 10 years old also

I live in my Carhartt double knee dungaree jeans- well worth the $40 I paid.

It truly is indestructible.

Almost every stitch of clothing I own, except underwear, Is Carhart. Even my casual dress slacks and shirts I wear at work are Carharts. Thier clothing is a bit more expensive but it does last ten times longer. I also suspect most if not all of it was designed by a male because it is very functional also. The coats are also very warm and comfortable.

I have a pair of thier canvas double layered work pants that are four years old and not a tear or wear spot on them. Out were I live Carharts are the defacto clothing for men. If you are not wearing them then you may be acused of walking a bit light in the loafers.

I am waiting for carhart to come out with jeans that allready have the snuff tin ring on the pockets. I takes a few weeks to get one on my jeans, then and only then are they truly broke in and ready to wear.

That's what I wear, but I can buy them for $30 all day long...But then, I DO live in an old logging town.:D.

4 jackets, 1 vest, 4 pair of jeans, 1 pair of bibbs. They're almost as bad as knives and flashlights........

Watch for styles and colors going out of production. Some of the Carhartt stocking dealers in my area run these clothes on clearance for substantial bargains. Sometimes it's a change of pocket location, sometimes simply a color that's no longer going to be made. Strange way to do business but who's gonna complain? Great clothes. Worth the price, but REALLY worth it if you can find one of these sales. :)

I've noticed more and more outsourcing however. Check the "made in" tag. Lots and lots of Mexico stamps. :(
