Anyone know how to get the scratches out this dlc coating? I’ve tried water, soap, metal polish. The scratches were from metal particles from sharpening rubbing against the coating.

i might have, nothing seems to be working. I guess it just has some more character now.You sure you haven't rubbed through the coating? Sharpening sludge is pretty abrasive...
gonna try again and see if anything happens i guessHopefully those aren't really scratches , but only residue marking the coating .
Try some mild metal polish . Go easy .
Thank you, it’s my dream user. think i might be getting satin blades from now onLooks cool, gives the knife some character. I don’t like DLC for this reason, however your Manix looks great.
oh really thanks for the infoIf it helps any, I've learned from the Spyderco forums that the DLC does not really add any corrosion resistance to your knife. So outside of looking scratched up, it won't be too bad. I agree with 91bravo. Just put some oil on it of your choice and use it. The first permanent scratches on a knife hurt, but over time they become wabi sabi.
Yeah I was surprised by it too. I can’t remember where but it was in a thread with Lance, the guy who designed the Waterway and the Siren where it was mentioned.oh really thanks for the info
It is a porous coating , but I believe it does help to retain whatever anti-corrosive that is applied .DLC does not really add any corrosion resistance
Nah, if it was satin that would have scratched up even worse. DLC is harder than the underlying steel.Thank you, it’s my dream user. think i might be getting satin blades from now on![]()
I actually used that exact brand i think the scratches are deepBrasso might work.
