Anyone know of a good source for 4140?

Or H13. I need to make some new dies for my power hammer. I'm looking for 2" x 2.5" x 8" stock. I just looked through all of ebay's listings for tool steel and they didn't have any in that size. I can get it from Metal Supermarkets, but $64 seems like a lot. Is that a reasonable price, or do you guys know of a better place?

Only thing I know of is contacting Blind Horse Knife Co. They make a ton of knives out of 4140 which they cut from old saw blades. LT is a super guy and I would bet willing to help or point you in the right direction. He has helped me with a thing or two not so long ago.

http://www.speedymetals.com they have a good selection and is reasonably priced. about 60-70 a foot is about what you'll pay for 4140 in that size

Start calling tool steel houses. My experience is they have 4140 as drops and typically have a lot of it. Two outfits I've gotten it from are Trembley and Cincinnati Tool Steel.

How much do you need? The Green is 4140. The white at the end is S7 and makes incredible dies.

Wow. I'd be happy with any of those steels. How much are you asking? (should probably send me an email)

I only need 8" of the 2" x 2.5", but if you don't have any that short, it wouldn't hurt to have extra. Do you have any in that size?

I think I'd prefer the S7, with A2 second choice.
