Hi, can't figure out what species wood this is, I've had them a few years and they were in rough shape with no markings and looked kind of plain. After cleaning them up they had quite a bit of figure, (especially the darker one) I've tried comparing to photos of many other species but still don't know what they are. Both have some chatoyance, the darker one has more.

The last photo is a piece 2 x 2 x 18 that I've had for a little over 8 years, it was rough sewn and both ends waxed. It had no markings but I'm guessing Cocobolo?

Anyone out there know what kind of wood this is?, if you do, please let me know:)

Thanks for any help,
Dave

I'm guessing Cocobolo but since I've never used it before, I wanted to make sure that's what this is.

The second block looks like thuya. The first one could be ambonya or a number of others. It would help to have smellavision. Looking at the bark could also help. Maybe Larry Davis will chime in here or you can reach him at galleryhardwoods dot com.

The last ones are cocobolo.
