Anyone know what this is?

I found this pine cone and the only trees around were a Cedar a Doug Fir and a maple. It had to have come from something else. It is about 6 inches tall and solid. It weighs probably a half pound or more. I was pretty impressed with the weight of it. Sorry about the picture quality, I took it with my phone...

Doesn't look like a pinecone to me. Almost appears like the individual sections are arranged in a spiral. Are they? Alien droppings for sure, lol.

Redwood maybe? It looks like something that could come off of a palm tree of some sort. Definitely interesting.

Here is a little better picture. They are in a spiral. The sap on it smells like fir sap. But I have never seen a fir tree with cones like this!

I just found what it is. The Knobcone Pine. I have never noticed them before they open. Once it opens it looks more like a pine cone, but this one is closed up still. Hey is a pic of one that is opening.
