Anyone know where to get a decent butterfly knife?

I have been looking for a butterfly knife that isn't custom, but isn't made out of the cheapest possible steel either. I've seen Bear MGC's and they seem to be pretty nice, but I've never gotten to put one through its paces. Anyone here ever handled or owned one? Please help me out. Thanks.

I've handled a Bear butterfly. But that was back in the day when Benchmade was still making them, so I had to go with them.
The feel was pretty good. The Bear knife was somewhat heavy, though, and seemed to be reasonably on par with the Benchmade.
Oh, what I wouldn't give for Benchmade to start making those tight little 3" butterflies that cost around 100$.

From: Ivan 6-27-115PM EDT Roadrunner, I just picked up a Bear butterfly yesterday for a friend of mine at Frederick, Md. Gun show. It looks nice but I didnt really run it through as I am not familiar with operations of butterfly knives. I am going to give it to him tomorrow and Ill let you know what he thinks. Ivan

Thanks Ivan. I m looking forward to the review.

but I also have one of those Jaguar brand butterfly knifes and they are not bad.

I meant to ask about the Jaguars too. By not bad, do you mean its on par with a schrade or buck or a frost?

Where to get a butterfly? well, I just go to my closet and open the ...sorry, cannot help myself. I got one of the last BM made, you can too I bet if you put some effort into cruisng the local gunshows a few times, save your pennies and yuppie food stamps (shorthand for a twenty dollar bill) and you will find both BM and PC not cheap at the shows but far worth the effort and cost.

I will not dishearten you by disclosing what I paid for my model 48 (utility blade) but it was extremely reasonable

From: Ivan 6-28-99 630PM EDT Roadrunner, I gave the Bear butterfly knife to my friend today . He liked it . That is all I can say because those things scare me. I will just chop myself up, I will stick to fast folders and wild autos. Ivan

Thanks Ivan. I think I'm going to get a Jaguar to learn on, that way i can dull the edge so I won't lose any fingers.
