The best gladii (and the best looking imo) you can get are from Albion Armourers. Unfortunately, they are expensive and the scabbards are extra. The one your'e looking at is the museum replica product - not bad but not historically accurate and windlass quality can be spotty but is said to be improving.
Kris Cutlery has one too that I've heard "not-bad" things about.
When I get a wood shop and a good example to go from, I'll have a wood model that Uncle can send to the boys in Nepal and see what one looks like with a cho
I wouldn't trust CAS - Iberia either, after buying a Phillipine made sword, I thrust with it and it bent, and stayed bent. I was able to bend it back into shape, however. Unfortunately it was with my bare hand, and with it sharpened to the best of my ability. Didn't sustain the slightest injury to my hand.
I checked out Kris Cutlery and that seems like a better bet. I probably won't go spending $195 on a sword anytime soon but I'm still putting some thought into it.
You might try these people. I have one of their heavy daggers given to me by my Bro that I'm very impressed with.
The steel is 1060 and the sword comes sharp instead of with the dull edge most have so they say.
My dagger isn't shaving sharp, but it wouldn't take much to get it that way, But that's not what it's made for.
The price for the Gladius isn't that bad either.
I haven't tested the knife but I do know it's made Bull Buffalo Tough!!!!!!!
Yvsa, that is the best one yet! The blade shape is exquisite and the price is certainly right. This Gladius is second on my wish list now, second only to a military long arm.
Broken Arrow would know, he knows Cecil at Kris Cutlery. He just started posting here again after a long hiatus. Cecil has been fighting the same fight as Uncle. Folks thing Nepali and Indian stuff has to be oats that have been run thru the horse first. Same with Phillipino stuff. What I got 4 or 5 years ago from CAS Iberia was the pre-used oats ( horse ---- ). But Uncle ( and Cecil too I'm told ) stands behind his product.
Never heard of the place Yvsa's talking about. Never heard of Yvsa'a brother ( or was it cousing )forging hawks before either. If he says it's good and tough, I'd check it out.
