Hey, everyone. Was wondering where to get an actual WWII khukuri (from then, not the same pattern)? Also, how do I detect fakes? I'm hoping for one that's in good shape, of course. Just something that I was looking to add something to my collection & think it would be awesome if it was functional- especially if it came with the small knife & sharpener in working order.

It is very hard to find an authentic WWII kukri if you are new to the kukri. Lots of fakes out there and every rip off artist finds a way to come up with a note that was written by some pilot or grandfather.

I would go to one of the sites that specializes in antique kukri and ask around. Be prepared to pay 3 or 4 times the amount you would for a modern made Nepalese kukri. Also, as far as functionality, these kukri are not meant to be used. The handles are a 50-100 years old and the scabbards are normally in bad shape, if you get one at a all.

Good luck!

What have got in your Collection now and how long have you been collecting Khukuri Knives.? Got a friend of mine in Fl. that collects them but he started very young and has over 24 of them last I heard from him. I will check and see if he has any info to help you out.!**
