Anyone like Canoe knives?

001.JPG 002.JPG Well, added another to the canoe collection today. I am a little amazed at the quality of this cheap Hammer Brand canoe. Fitment is perfect, great snap and sharp blades. $10.00 from the big auction site. Well, well worth the money.

I do like the Canoe pattern, although I only have one example;

Like Teds, it's the 2007 BFC Cannittler s/n 013 in Mammoth Ivory. I have had other Canoes, but it's the only one I have right now.

At the moment... ;)

I have been looking at these canoe's for a while, and decided to find an older Case. This is my first older knife I have purchased, but I really wanted the single spring older Case Canoe. I can see why this is a great pattern. Nice size & weight. Feels comfortable in hand & pocket.
I'm not sure what color handles these are, but maybe someone could tell me the color.
Thanks for looking.

I think it's red bone, some were really dark. That's a really nice condition knife.

I recently picked up a Canoe and although it's a looker I wasn't bonding with it. I just saw a photo of a Case Canoe with a great photo angle that made it look like a Zulu. It made me take a second look at mine and realized that my index finger fit perfectly between the bolster and the pen blade. It's got sunken joints which are always a plus. This is definitely going to end up as a user. I have to put an edge on it as it's the dullest new knife I ever received. And, since it's D2 it may be above my pay grade.

Sounds like a winning plan, Alan! :thumbsup: That's certainly an outstanding knife! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup: Does it have 1 spring, or 2?
I have more canoes than any other pattern; this stag Buck is probably my favorite:

It's a single spring Gary, albeit a thick one.

That looks exactly like my Hammer Brand Canoe. (or is it properly a "Gunboat" since it has more than 2 blades?) :)
I agree that it is a fine and solid user.
I wish BTI TOOLS (Owner of all the Schrade trademarks, of which Hammer Brand is one) would bring back some of the Hammer Brand and New York Knife Company knives.
:)
