Does anyone live in Oregon, if so where? I am moving to astoria at the end of april. I'm pretty excited to be that close to the river and forest. Anyway I was asking because I'm not really going to know anyone. I'm looking for some people to backpack with and to fish with.
anyone Interested?

right next door, buddy. I'm in Boise just across the border, not sure how far away you are but it can't be more than 3 hours or so. I'm spending a week in the Owyhees starting next monday or tuesday.

right on guys, I'm pretty excited to be moving to oregon. it's going to be way differnet than san jose ca. lol

Heck yeah, definately the right part of the country to be in... I do alot of whitewater too, so if you're into that/want to get into it, it's relatively cheap and a heck of alot of fun. Great way to see backcountry that you couldn't access on foot.

heck yeah. I want to do that, whitewater rafting sounds awesome. I've gone a few times with a river guide kinda thing. nothing to crazy though.

Idaho has 1500 miles of whitewater and I know there are some crazy rivers in Oregon too. We have at least 10 trips a year, usually in groups of about 30 people, around 15 rafts plus kayaks and one raft set up for rowers, usually about 8 people. All you would need is a drybag and your camping gear for summer trips (usually never gets below 75 degrees so being warm on the water isn't an issue) and it runs anywhere from 50-125 dollars for the shuttle, food and supplies. It's a friggin blast. I've seen lions, bighorn sheep, elk, river otters, you name it.

I'm a little north in the Seattle area. Keep your ears open for the Great NW Mischief in the summer. It draws guys from Oregon and Washington for all manner of blades in the wilderness fun.

MOST of Oregon is more than 3 hours from Boise.

;- )

I'm about an hour + southwest of Portland in Yamhill county. However, I fish out of my kayak along the north and central coast at times.

Welcome.

Jay

I'm in Portland as well. Grew up in Oregon (Hood River) but have been away for 10 years. Nice to be home.

Born and raised in Seaside. It is the place I learned to use a knife.

I dont live there anymore, but I come around often and have family there. Enjoy the greenery and fresh ocean breeze -I miss it. The hikes in that area are amazing.

PS- there is a new knife shop in Seaside. It is right on Roosevelt. You cant miss the big Zero Tolerance signs. Prices are high but they might swing you a deal.

Stevenson, WA - about 45 miles east of Portland...

As Pritch said, the Great NW Rat (Hogs & Dogs) Mischief'll be sometime in August; I'm already scared :o !!

Welcome,
