Anyone Live in Oregon?

I don't get home very often but I live in Waldport( Where the forest meets the sea).
It can get dreary at times but I love living on the Oregon coast!

BTW, Boise is roughly 450 miles from Astoria. You must have a faster plane than I do if you can get there in 3 hours.

Does it really rain as much as people say it does in Oregon?.
Thats one thing that would be hard to deal with.

Boise to Astoria is about 9 hours.
I live in McMinnville, which is about two hours from you in Astoria. I have a really good friend who lives in Knappa, which is right next to Astoria, he is into the outdoors. Pm me sometime.

Born and raised in Lake Oswego, a suburb of Portland, and live in Klamath Falls right now. If you are ever looking for the BEST fishing in Oregon, or looking to hike around Crater Lake, hit me up! I am moving back up to Portland here at the end of the year to go to culinary school as well.

Welcome to Oregon my friend, you'll love the knife and gun laws here too.

Astoria is a nice place, filmed "The Goonies" and "Kindergarden Cop" there, and your at the mouth of the Columbia River, good fishin!

It really depends, the Willamette Valley (Portland, Eugene, Salem) gets a pretty decent amount of rain, less than NY though. And as for the rest of the state, its pretty much High Desert terrain. Here in Klamath, we never see rain except for summer thunderstorms, and the majority of our precipitation is snow in the winter.

From Astoria to Seaside to Cannon Beach -it rains constantly. The North Coast gets a lot of rain. I remember that it was often raining in Seaside when it was sunny in Portland. It is what makes the coastal forests "rain forests." A "sunny day" is a day that is not raining.

You will learn to value the grey overcast days that don't rain. It does clear up and get really sunny, but not very frequently. I lived most of my life in that exact area (A.S.C.).

It is kind of funny -I went to college in Orange County. Whenever it was overcast most of the native californians became really depressed:D.

Awe man... just looking at a map it seems so short, I forgot how big the land is out here. I guess I'm just overzealous in my hunt for a backpacking buddy.

Easy to do, PR!

;-)

re. the weather:

People inclined to complain about the rain in western Oregon don't know the hidden upside: the driest warm summer on the planet (I grew up there).

that is the town we are moving too. I usually say astoria because nobody knows where knappa is. we are still super close to astoria. awesome man. I know I met a guy in astoria that sells scandi knives at the local open market in the summers, so I know there is a local knife maker.
