anyone looking for some black ash burl

holy! doe he really think he can make more $ selling it all at once who is gonna buy all that.

Not an unreasonable price at all so long as the actual weight is there, quality is good and freeze cracks a minimum. Not something to buy without eyes and hands on inspection along with weighing each piece.

It seems like a strange thing to try to sell on Ebay. There can't be many people in this country who would buy $10k worth of burl (especially sight-unseen). You'd think a few phone calls would have served him better.

I would after agreeing on a per pound price upon inspection, but I'm cutting down since "retirement". Biggest single burl purchase I've made was for a $75,000 container of Amboyna burl.

It's still a lot of fun!!! I have 15,000#s still in the Oregon warehouse along with a horizontal band sawmill to slab it up. Much of it's to big even for my 24" Laguna resaw. I cut as needed when I'm at the shop. Got a few 500# Thuya burls left laying around, too :) I cut a lot of knife handle pieces, turning stock, guitar tops and table tops, although I find myself cutting up the table tops eventually into knife and sword pieces. I hauled some of the Amboyna slabs back here to Georgia to hold for BLADE 2010.

I took a tour thru your knife photos, Phil and am very impressed with your work, sir. You really have an eye for handle material.

I'll have to check out your warehouse sometime. My Brother's going to school in Corvallis and I have family in Portland. I grew up in Reedsport. A trip to Eugene wouldn't be too big a stretch.

Well...first let me say...GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!

Why not come over for the OKCA knife show in Eugene mid April? Maybe even score a table....435 tables this year and I always have three.

I brought back some amboyna turning blocks I've been meaning to post for sale here, but just to lazy!! I was scheduled to exhibit at the North Carolina Wood turning Symposium last month, but got sick.

I'm the only one in my family who isn't a Beaver. There was always strong anti-Duck sentiment in my house. :D

April sounds like a good idea. I go to Bend every Easter for climbing; I could just stay in Oregon.

Hey Larry,
Can I come by and look around too?
Phil, Larry is right when he says the Eugene show is a good one. I went last year and had a great time. It really dwarfed the Blade West show. Back then I was about to give up on knife handle wood and stick with guitar and furniture customers. Wayne Goddard gave me a call and talked me into coming to the show. I learned more there and got more encouragement from that show than anywhere else up to that time. Now look what happened to me.

That'd be fine, Mark..always like to chat with wood nuts like me.

Phil, If you can't stay in Oregon that long Bend is only 125 miles so just pop over after your climb..cheers
