Anyone making sheaths similar to R. Holloman's work, but for Busses?

It would be a small world if the first person to do something would be the only one with the rights to do it huh.

Well, actually, we wouldn't be able to make anything. One to do kydex sheaths and holsters, one to do leather sheaths and holsters. I wonder if the first guy to make a kydex sheath is still out there... if he is then everyone behind him is copying him.

Think if Walker retained the rights to his invention of the liner lock, interesting eh.

Lots to ponder.

My thoughts exactly .....:thumbup::thumbup:

If you don't own it, you can not control it.

I have enjoyed reading the different views and opinions. I don't have a dog in this fight because I can't create anything of value with my own hands...I'm more of a demo kinda guy.

Someone mentioned how "cheap" some of the sheaths are and have to agree. About a year ago I had never owned a quality aftermarket sheath and was mainly using kydex. One day on the forum I saw a Chuddy Bear sheath that really caught my eye and I beat it over to his website. I was amazed at how reasonable the high quality makers sheaths are....I realize there is a lot of competition and not a whole lot of material cost, but I commend the makers for keeping the prices affordable.

Very controversial topic here, perhaps this one belongs in the Politics sub forum here? :D

I'm wrong as always…. clearly the other side of the coin is the winner here. Move along, nothing to see here…. :yawn:

These two quotes confuse me? So far the thread has been very civil, honest, and without politics. Are you seeing a slight somewhere? I dont see anyone talking down to you. Sorry if I missed something there.

I badly wanted a Swinkles style hybrid sheath..... So I had a good buddy kydex maker from here on the forum make me the liner (thx Dave) and an Aussie leather maker do the leather wrap.... Almost turned out great.... I also made a minor change by using a titanium pivot ring instead of a stainless one so there was point of difference....

I must admit I was apprehensive about asking both makers to make a sheath from a picture of a Swinkles sheath. However now that I've read this thread and heard from some of the actual makers themselves.... I don't feel so bad.

There's a difficult place. Swinkles was banned for a series of bad deals. How, if you want one badly, do you get one without having to deal with him? You find someone willing and able to make a similar piece and has a good reputation. Done.

ok, here's my experience. A customer asks me to do a sheath like X, I say fine, but, and usually its a big but. I will only do it if I can put my style to it. I wont make a clone, but I will make a similar piece. I wont make a sheath with a patented shock cord keeper strap, I wont make any sheath with any thing that is iconic to that maker without asking first. If that maker says no, well he is a jerk, but that is his prerogative. A generous maker will always share his knowledge, a selfish maker keeps everything to himself and shares nothing. The selfish ones always show themselves eventually.

The bottom three are all magnetic retention made by Chuddy Bear and they work perfectly!
