I love the looks of these knives and have seen alot of positive posts about these. Anyone not like them (Im hoping you have hands on experience) and why?

Scott

I don't like flippers. I find them hard to open and I think they're a fad.

I really like mine and find mine easy to open. I switch mine in and out of my edc rotation.

I don't like the price :D, although they are definitely worth it. They look like art knives but are very solid. Just as tough as any Tacticool knife I've held. I've got a EDC-X and a MT with another MT getting DLC coated currently. All assisted. Very nice. Plus, I like flippers. Makes it a breeze to open. One thing to consider though is it is a BIG knife and sits deep in the pocket. I don't put anything else in the same pocket as a GH so it doesn't clink on it and get scratched up.

Oilman those are sweet looking knives. Where did you get the lanyards, were they included? Yeah the price is painful, and I heard it just went up to $625. Not enough to scare me though:D

Made them from some paracord. The assisted ones started at $675 last time I looked. Seems like the non assisted ones were $100 cheaper. Maybe there's been a price change since then though.

ps. Yep, he stopped using IKBS and went to his own MAXX GLIDE PIVOT BEARING SYSTEM™ IIRC. That's the $625 one. From what I've heard they are silky smooth.

the only blade I like is the MT it think it is called, the top blade in Oilman's pic. I think these are very soild useable knives, perhaps under rated?

Oilman, where is a good place to pick up paracord? Yeah the $625 I was referring to was for the non-assisted. The price did go up.....such is life. I still want one:D

It was not my favorite DDR at first, then I held one at the Atlanta Blade Show. Very substantial, well made, incredibly strong, and very beautiful. I left the Blade Show thinking that it was one of the nicest things I held at the show. Now I have one on order with DDR for $1800 plus.

It will have Norris Ladder and Raindrop Damascus with a Mokume insert. It should be killer!

So, $600 seems like a bargain!! :)

Yeah I'm really trying to feel sorry for you:p nope its not working:D . Seriously I bet that will be a beautiful knife, congratulations

The only thing that makes it any sweeter is that she is already paid for. DDR has all the money this time.

I usually have to scramble around and sell a kidney when a maker calls me and says "it's ready", but this time I am ahead of the game.

I hope this shows how much I trust DDR. As good of a maker as he is, he is also one maker who really values and respects his customers.

Hi Scott, you are gonna have to look long and hard for those folks.

Darrel makes immaculate yet workhorse tough knives - a rare combo. Cant decide between the two blade profiles and I can only afford one and its killing me :)

imho the recurve one is the thing to get, i will eventually get one, or swap for one.

i have 2 DDRs, a maxx stilletto 5.5" and a mini maxx spearpoint talonite blade 4", the F&F on his stuff is impeccable, if anyone has better i have yet to see it myself, he makes great stuff, as far as price i would say expensive but worth it for sure.

To my knowledge, the first Flippers were made around 20 years ago by Randal Galbreath and Kit Carson.

Seem like the "fad" is still rolling along.

The first knives with flippers were made by knifemaker Robert Hayes in the early 1970's.

Not a fad in my mind either. I think it is a sensible design improvement for a hard-use folder.
