Anyone not like the Gunhammer

The first knives with flippers were made by knifemaker Robert Hayes in the early 1970's.

Anthony,

Thanks very much for the clarification.

Regards, Neil

PS- I sell lots of Flipper knives to Police, EMT's and others who need a fast one-handed opening non-auto knife.
Also, to folks with less that 100% movement in their hands due to arthritis, injury etc.

Not a fad in my mind either. I think it is a sensible design improvement for a hard-use folder.

I fully agree. Over the last 2 years, the flipper has actually become my favorite opening mechanism for a folder, provided that the flipper in question can be flipped open easily without any wrist action.

The GunHammer has to be held to be fully appreciated. It is, an extremely solid, extremely well designed and executed folder from Darrel. In my opinion, it is a big move foward for him on all of these areas and that is not an easy thing to do. He is already one of the best out there.

The ergos on the handle are amazing. In any grip I have used, the handle has provided a solid and stable grip with no hot spots.

I am not a huge fan of flippers in general. There are a few flippers that I truly like, a few more that I find acceptable and the rest I can do without. For me, the GunHammer flipper falls into the the few i find acceptable. This isn't saying it doesn't function brilliantly as a flipper, it's just my personal opinion in regard to all flippers.

Without the bearing system or the assisted opener, just a plain jane bronze washer set up, the GH is extremely smooth. It doesn't bind anywhere, it can be loosened quite abit before lateral blade play is apparent, or it can be tightened down to make opening slower. Still smooth.

For me, it is a great knife and as soon as Darrel gets mine back to me( I switched to the MT blade from the Dominator) it will go back into the pocket on a regular basis.

Price??? I guess that depends on your point of view. I have seen many people happily pay several times the cost of a GH, only to later complain about performance and quality of the knife. You won't complain about the quality or performance of this knife and you won't have to pay $1500 to find that out.

The Gunhammer is my EDC. It is a spectacular knife!! It still looks like new and I beat the hell out of it.

lovely knives. seem hard use but too pretty to beat up. But then I dont beat mine much! I do use all my knives from Buck to Sebenza. I dont have any time for safe queens! I want to carry my blades!

Great Knife. Reasonable price. Fantastic workmanship! Flippers? Use to hate 'em. that is until I started carrying one that was a gift. I didn't realize how much I had learned to depend on it until I carried an every day thumb-stud knife a few weeks ago. I'm carrying the flipper again. You Bet! Mike
