Lots of talk about his pricey knife, but has anyone noticed his watch? I had seen a similar model in a shop and saw his royal ruggedness on TV actually wearing one. He wears a Breitling Emergency or Emergency Mission, both of which are capable of broadcasting a distress signal with an antenna that is housed under the large knob on the lower left. Anyone have first hand experience with this watch? At $4000+ for the watch, I can see how he justifies selling and carrying a $700 knife.

he he he - maybe it allows him to order pizza

(sorry just couldn't resist)

Yeh I noticed a few threads when the show started about his watch but I always found it ironic he rather carry a several thousand dollar watch and cheap out on the most important tool... a knife.

700 dollars is hardly cheaping out...

Is the watch for when he has no idea where he is or has missed his drop zone?

How well does it tell time?

Hah!

That is awesome...I can see some amazing Jr adventurer with too high an allowance sporting a BG watch and a BG knife running from an African lion with his pee stained underwear tied to his head, a tummy full of Elephant dookie water, arms flailing frantically trying to hit the distress button.

Yea, when he started, he was using some cheap Gerber trash that well for me would'nt take even if it was given to me.

I'm pretty sure the hotel comped him that watch for being a frequent guest. :p

that was just plain awesome, completely made my day

on another note, its sad that people actually do watch bear grylls and try to emulate him. they also think his survival advice is the best there is :o

thanks for the laugh.

in terms of your watch question. i've never actually noticed that watch on him before. wonder if its bullet proof for 4000 bux :eek:

the watch i usually have on me is a tissot t-touch which has an altimeter, chronography, compass, thermometer, and meteo function which helps to predict weather conditions based on combining information which it takes in from its sensors.

this is the model i have, its kinda neat because the watch hands move whenever u touch the watch face for one of the functions.

cheers

Hey, give the guy a break! There is a very sound, reasonable explanation for him using a watch of this caliber. Bear needs a watch with this pinpoint accuracy so he will know precisely when the helicopter will pick him up. After all, if you are late for your massage you still pay for the appointment you made.

Bear gets his knife/watch/gear for free now that he is popular... Wouldn't you wanna carry the more expensive gear if you got it for free? :D

he could use the watch for navigating?

point the hour hand at the sun and between 12-3 will be south?

:D

He needs a reliable watch so he'll never miss his frequent breaks with schnitzels, fries and beer.

Bear actually did away with the breitling, he now wears a watch made my a uk company called bremont.
