I am interested in placing an order with survival sheath and was wondering if anyone had any experience good or bad. Thanks in advance.

Adam :)

Yes. Robert makes excellent sheaths, and the turnaround time is very fast!

I'm wearing my Survival Sheath Systems Kydex Belt Sheath as I write this. I can't say enough good things about this sheath, though I've tried in other threads. Talk to the proprietor, Robert Humelbaugh, if you have any special requests but set some time aside for the call because he's got some stories that'll get you laughing. Great guy. Great products.

I have a sheath for my Benchmade Nimravus that he makes standard (i.e. he doesn't need the knife to make the sheath) and one for a 22" sword (Hossom Espada). I'm very satisfied with both.

Make sure the sheath you buy will fit the knife. I bought their up to 8" Survival Sheath and the knife I wanted to put in it was too wide for the sheath. IMO the sheaths are too narrow. That and the liner looked like a piece of plastic tubing that was flattened. It's not like the kydex liner in other sheaths I have.

I am typically just lurking around, but had to reply in support of Robert. I own a bunch of his stuff and love it. He just did a sheath and insert for my Hell Razor. Great sheath, good guy!

i have placed several orders with survival sheaths and have been satisfied with their service and merchandise.

Great work, great product, great guy to deal with. He delivered right on time and match my screwy schedule so I could pick up the package ASAP. Couldn't be happier and will order more in the near future.

Thanks for all the feedback, this was just the push that I needed! So, off to place my order!!! Thanks again.

I have a custom rig I had Robert Humelbaugh of Survival Sheath Systems (SSS) make for me quite a few years ago. It has seen 24/7 wear for extended periods of time... working, eating, sleeping, driving, etc. It was virtually never taken off. It not only was so comfortable that I usually forgot I was wearing it, it was so well made that there was no noticable wear to the components.

The price was also very, very reasonable for a custom-designed carry system. I found Robert very easy to work with. Given the incredible number of on-the-body days/months/years of wear time that rig saw, the "cost per time worn" was incredibly small... i.e. approaches zero.

Robert offers very durable goods at really nice prices. What's not to like?

I suspect this post refers to the Spec-Ops brand Survival Sheath (cordura nylon sewn around a (kydex?) stiff liner), not one of Robert Humelbaugh's kydex pieces. While the Spec-Ops Survival Sheath is a popular unit that has earned its strong reputation, it's not to be confused with SSS wares, which is really easy to do given the name similarity.

I bought a shoulder rig/sheath for my old ATC Next Gen Ranger tomahwak from Survival Sheath a long while back - the quality is excellent and the delivery time was quite fast. Highly reccommended.

SO what you're saying is that the Spec-Ops Survival Sheath sold by Survival Sheath Systems is not a Survival Sheath product. . . okay. One of these days I'll find a knife that fits it and replace the liner.

robert's website says you can contact him for custom liners. this sounds like that would solve your problem

The nylon Survival Sheath was designed by me, and it's manufactured by Spec Ops. They asked me to give them a design. I can make custom liners for the sheath, the stock liner isn't my first choice, but it does well with most utility blades. Like many things that are suppossed to do be a "univseral" fit, it doesn't fit anything besides the normal "survival knife" blade well, although it accepts the Fallkniven A-1 really well.

Robert,

I was thinking of getting one for my Busse Badger, is it wide enough to accept that?

How wide is the badger?

Yes, a little on the long side though. The best all around sheath I've used , although I prefer leather/kydex fusion sheaths. The survival sheath is great in many respects, and the kydex liner can be taken out and modified. Robert H can make you the right one as well.
