I would love to hear your opinions on this knife.I'm thinking seriously about getting one.I like the idea of a hard use blade of this size and this one looks like it would be more lively than your average sharpened pry bar.

I posted in the general section but got no answers.Maby not many folks own one.

Sorry so many questions lately but I've got knife money I need to spend.

I can't speak for the Hood Hunter, but I do have a First Strike, Extreme Judgement and the Last Chance...all are excellent knives. If you don't mind the double guard, the Hood Hunter looks pretty good; I know the Final Judgement has received excellent reviews. Are you looking at the 8 or 10 inch model? Personally, I would go with the 10" and carry a smaller knife for smaller tasks. Ferhman's CPM-3V is tough steel and has held up quite well for me; I love my Last Chance. Even though most his models are 1/4" thick, Eric does a great job on his flat grinds with wide blades giving it a very acute angle with an extremely sharp edge...it's more of a cutter than a sharpened prybar...

I'm looking at the 10" model.I think the blade is only 1 3/8 inch wide.I wonder if it would also have a very sharp edge.I like the Extreme Judgement blade width but want more point.I also want something that handles more like a fighting knife.Though I'm no expert I can feel the difference between a machete and a rapier.I like the idea of a fighting knife that can handle any extreme situation your average sharpened pry bar could.

Thanks for the input

Randy, Ron Hood designed the knife to be a great chopper and slicer, and yet handle well enough to be a seld-defense knife if you had to resort to that.

I have yet to hear anything but outstanding reviews from owners of this blade, and the reviews are from people whose opinions I trust. Go for it. If you don't like it for any reason, you'll have no trouble selling it.

I've heard alot of good responses about them on Hoodlums forum.

Thanks guys,I appreciate the input.I'm going to get one. This will be the most I've spent yet on a single knife but it should be a good one from all I've read.

Is the Fehrman sheath good or does this blade deserve something else?

Eric has put as much thought into his sheath systems as he does his outstanding knives.

Fehrman knives are great. I have the Shadow Scout and First Strike (both in satin) and am very pleased with both of them. Make sure you post pics and a review when you get the knife.

I'm not too computer savy.I can only get dial up where I live and have tried to upload pictures to a photo bucket account to post at another forum. After two hours with nearly no progress I gave up.

I will however try to get a friend to post some of the blade in use when I get it and write a full review.I assume it will go to the reviews and testing forum though.

I have a Thru Hiker. Would like to see some Noss test's on these blades though.

Why? They don't tell us anything useful for bushcraft or wilderness use, or any other real world use for that matter. Noss seems like a fun guy, and a nice guy, but his tests are not any kind of accurate measure of anything, except how entertaining he is to watch.

i own a 10" version from the original batch. serial #12

the knife moves very fast in the hand compared to other knives you would consider choppers so if you are wanting a fighter and survival knife this would be the one:thumbup:

here is a pic of it with some of my other choppers for size reference.

Don't matter, I would still like to see it. It's not realistic of how the average person would use their knive, but still it does tell you how strong the steel is. The calms some of these companies say is just BS, I want to see it for myself.

The only way to see it for yourself is to buy the knife yourself, and test it yourself....:foot:
