My drive belt keeps pulling off the wheels. It seems the motor wheel is about 1/2" to far to the left. I can't find any tightening or adjustment handles, screws or anything to that effect. It was running fine for a couple weeks, then POW! The belt doesn't last longer than a second when turned on.

I have an old Craftsman 12" bandsaw. I haven't looked at the motor and drive section of it since I first got it. I believe I recall it having two steps or speeds though. I'll try and take a look. Can you snap any photos?

I'll be able to take some photos tomorrow. This is the single speed version, it's a little older, I got it off craigslist.

I got my old Craftsman 12" band saw via Craigslist too. Here's a link to the manual for a few of the older 12 inch models. Perhaps yours is among them?

If that doesn't have your model, maybe a search on the sears parts site with your parts number will help you out. (http://www.searspartsdirect.com/)

From all I can see it looks like there are only two ways to make drive belt adjustments. One is the tensioning of the motor. The other is the alignment of the pulleys. If one of your pulleys has slipped along its shaft the belt would likely have a tough time staying on.

Good luck. Keep us posted. --Phil

I had one for many years. The retainer ring on the back of the lower wheel has a habit of popping out of its slot and the wheel slides forward. This causes the tracking to be off and misaligns the motor pulley and the drive pulley. Push the lower wheel back, and snap the "C" ring back in the slot. A new ring may be needed.

So it's fixed.

There was a set screw on the wheel that was attached to the motor. It was caked with a bunch of saw dust. So I cleaned the whole thing down, and lined the wheels. Works great now.

Great, I was thinking it must be that one of the pulleys slid.
