Seeing Arno Bernard on a few sites. South African I believe. Makes what looks to be a fine $80-$100 Drop point in Mammoth Ivory. Anyone have any comment on this line and the low priced minis in particular? Regards.
I've got one of his minis. It's OAL is 5" with a 2.5" blade. The handle is Warthog Ivory. It's a well made, well finished little knife. But it is LITTLE.
I imagine his larger knives are similar in quality.
I have one of the 3" bladed ones in bloodwood. Seems like a nice enough knife for the money but the tapered tang is evidently not done properly. It has a bit of curve which made the scales crack across the middle.
I've had a Arno Bernard skinner for years and love it.Met him and bought it from him at the Spirit of Steel show in Mesquite ,TX.He uses all natural materials from South Africa.BUT,You may be talking about his son Arno Jr.I've seen his knives on ebay selling very reasonably, but likely not quite as good a quality as pop.
I have 7 or Arno Jr.'s knives and one of Franco Bernard's (none of Sr.'s). All of mine are extremely high quality pieces. I actually contacted Jr. and put in a special order of his large Bowie and large skinner in giraffe scale and SS bolster on both. If I knew how to post a picture to this message I'd show you guys two knives and they are hefty for those that like bigger knives.
I don't think anyone can go wrong with this families product. I for one am extremely pleased with what I've purchased from them.
I own an Arno Bernard Croc, from his Predator series. 4.35" N690 blade, sheep's horn handles, and a beautiful cape buffalo leather sheath. Beautiful fixed blade for the $330 price point.
I don't own one, but want one badly! I don't collect fixed blades, but his handles just blow me away...so exotic and clean-lined. The only ones I don't care for are the croc handles. I'm guessing the buffalo sheaths are tough as nails.
I've got a few Arno Bernard knives. Beautiful lines, great fit and finish. The steel is good, awesome sheaths as well. No complaints from me. Definitely worth the money.
