Anyone own a japanese higonokami !

I have one that was a generous gift from a BF member. I keep mine on my desk at work. Even I can get it very sharp!

I think I may have to order one with Musashi on the handle . . . I've always been fascinated by his story. The epic Samurai movie in three parts with Toshiro Mifune as Musashi is a classic.

I like the larger one, and it will sit around with me when I'm home, but I rarely take it out of the house. It is a bit loose, and I'm afraid of it opening in my pocket.

I had to take a ceramic rod to mine, to fix some finish issues, though they were minor.

The judicious application of a hammer or vise to the pivot pin would tighten it up, I'd wager.

I think the ones I have are the genuine article, made by Mr. Nagao.

The last of the Higonakami (as opposed to Higo naifu ;) ) makers I'm told  I received mine as a gift from Blaine :)

I've had this Ohta a couple of months, not a Higonakami I don't think, but rather a nice friction folder in its own right

I bought one of the tiny ones. I'll try to remember to get a pic of it with it's bigger brother, and a peanut to compare.

Mine was a gift from a generous gentleman who sometimes hangs around here, and has a colorful name with some musical undertones.

Please do! Im trying to decide between the small and extra small but i havent been able to find any pictures of them next to any knives ive had experience with. Id like it to fit in my back pocket comfortably
