I'm wondering if anyone EDCs a Spyderco Chubby? If so, what are your thoughts on it? Please elaborate on It's usefulness. What have you found it to be good for? Where have you found it to be lacking? I'd really like like to hear the strengths and weaknesses from someone who puts it through It's paces on a daily basis.

RamZar has one and I think he carries it from time to time. He says of the stubby little knives, it's the best slicer, which was something of a surprise to me.

I carried mine every day for about two weeks and now I carry it about once every three weeks. It is part of a larger rotation now.
I like "little big knives", like the Techno and the ZT0900, and the Chubby is a beautiful example of these tough little knives.
I'd say it's more useful than I thought it would be because the actual length of the cutting edge is longer than it looks thanks to that huge belly.
Although it's a very thick blade in relation to it's short length, the hollow grind allows it to have a nice sharp edge with a thinner shoulder than you might expect from such thick stock.
Thanks to the short length it rides easily in your pocket and I have even used it as a money clip at times. (When I use it as a money clip, it pairs well with the Rubicon)
The clip is nice looking IMO and slides on and off of my pockets smoothly, but it tends to ride a little bit sideways.
The action is smooth and the lockup is solid.
The tolerances are extremely tight and this knife exhibits the typical awesome build quality you get from Taichung.
Every time I carry it I find myself admiring the handle. I really like the look of the CF inlaid in the Ti.

As for using it, I find it excels at most utility work like a good EDC should...boxes, packages, light pruning, anything that requires a puncture, push-cut or short draw this knife can handle very well. Although it looks like a skinner blade I have not tried skinning anything with it. It's not great for anything involving food. The blade is a bit short for drawing through a steak and it puts the pivot too close to the food IMO. A short thick blade with a hollow grind doesn't chop or slice vegetables very well either. That said, maybe those details don't matter to you.

All in all I think this is a stylish and very useful EDC that can handle more than it's size might lead people to believe.
