I bought the model # 442 and 426 (Catalog # 873 and 1394).They are the equivalent of the Buck 110 and 112 ,but with the black plastic handles.I installed thumb studs on both knives. They are the studs that stay on by means of an allen screw.
Over all, I like these 2 knives. My only complaint is that their action is "stiffer" than my 710 Axislock.Any opinions?

mickey, i own several bucklites and sometimes there is a slight variance in the blade 'rivit'.IMHO use them and if they dont loosen to your satisfaction send them to buck for a little warranty attention. i just got my 424/501 back from a minor adjustment where the blade was loose.the service is the best!!! Also,a little gun oil helps too.
take care
guy

I'm not really surprised that your $140-190. Benchmade 710 is smoother than your $25-40. Buck 426.

Does the 710 have a strong backspring to overcome when flipping it open via the thumb-stud?

Warhawk,
The Axis lock has put up with a lot of abuse In the last year and ahalf. It still works just fine.In my opinion, it's one of the best locking systems currently on the market.
I don't really care (trust?) for Linerlocks. The old Buck 110 and 112's have a proven track record since the 70's.You are right. The Bucklites are great knives for the money. They came out of the box razor sharp, and, I like the standard lockback.
