Just wondering if any one has picked up any of the CS knives that have been released? Just traded my 12 for a Hatamoto and have to say this knife kicks ass. At least the one I have does. Super easy to sharpen and easy to get wicked sharp. Deploys easily and no blade play when open. Everything fits just as it should fit too. I have wanted one for a very long time and now I have one and am pleased. Just curious about the new releases. Don't want this to turn into a flame war either so if that happens one of the moderators can shut it down. keepem sharp

Gotta hand it to CS, with the variety of stuff they offer you can film a war movie just with their stuff.

Yea well do you have any of the new knives they offer? If not then don't contribute to the thread. keepem sharp

Wow, didn't realize joining the thread was an issue. I wasn't saying anything negative about CS. I have no problem staying out of people's threads who are uptight. Later.

Nope. Just rec. a Hatamoto on a trade for my CQC12 and really have taken a shine to it. Just looking at some of there newer offerings and they just look interesting. I know Savson I think it is called has some of the new folders in stock and am going to spring for one maybe the med. Espada. Just was wondering if anyone else has seen, held, or used the newer folders. Keepem sharp

lol, where do we apply for the special treehouse badge. That's a pretty elitist attitude for a Cold Steel fan.

Chiller how do you know they aren't worth what they are asking? Do you own one of the mentioned knives? No? Didn't think so. So again if anyone owns one of the new CS knives being introduced please let me know what you think. keepem sharp

I have the G.I. Tanto, which is fairly new. It's pretty much what the Strider is: a slab of steel with a paracord wrapped around the handle, only it's...uh...priced like a slab of steel with a paracord wrapped around the handle, not something way out of proportion.

I've never been a fan of the San Mai steel. The core steel went from AUS8 to VG1, but I could never see the expense for those steels. Not that they're not good steels. They are. And the high end knives, like the Hatamoto, are impressively made and have great builds. Are they significantly tougher than the core steels? I don't know, but I do know they won't hold an edge better than their core steels, and that's the rub.

But Cold Steel is innovative and there's generally something in each new catalog that I want. Just when everyone thought they were going stale, they came out with the Recon 1 line. I now wish they would revisit their Pro-Lite models with an AUS8 blade.

BTW, has anyone tried their baseball bats?

I like their polypropylene baseball bats. IMO they are even better then Louisville sluggers (if you are not limiting yourself to hitting baseballs :)).

Made of polypropylene they are 'impervious' (Cold Steels own choice of words) to water and weather. Because of the price I'm sure I hit harder casue I'm not afraid of wrecking it and it's easy to replace. Nice heft and my only gripe is that it's not too comfortable to the hands (friction burns and hotspots!). I recommend it for the price and the durability aspects.

I have the new Recon 1 spear, or at least that's what the Evil Bay seller told me :) So I think I'm contributing to this thread.

No but I know what a knife of similar or bitter quality is selling for.
I can get several models Benchmades and Spydercos that I am sure are the equal or better than the Lawman knife for the $50-$60 price range and several of the Byrd series of knifes or the knife than the Bushaman was based off of (douk -douk) for less than $20.But either way I know what they are worth to me and it is not near the amount the are asking.
And yes I own some Cold Steel knifes and like them and I am also willing to spend a couple hundred dollars for a knife if it is worth it.In my opinion these knife are not worth what they are asking for them.

Well again you don't own the lawman, or espada, or there kukri style folder. I don't care about the older models I am just looking for info on the new model offerings. Which seems to be like pulling teeth. I'll assume that no one has any of the newer models are at least hasn't handled them as of yet. Thats all I am asking. Someone that owns some of the new models or has handled them if they could post there impressions that would be great.

For an opinion to hold water and be a valid opinion you have to own one of the newer models. You can comment I suppose on how you feel about the new knives but for an opinion to be valid it should be backed up with facts. For instance my hatamoto I think is at least twice the knife the CQC12 is I traded for it. My opinion only but a valid opinion to me cause I have owned both knives and the hatamoto I think is made of way better materials, it cuts easier, handles better and seems to me to be more robust, so I am extremely happy I made the trade. Now others may argue that the 12 has the ti frame lock is made in the USA, and uses 154cm steel. Valid points but these weren't enough for me to like it and keep it. The bad points for me were the ti was slippery feeling, the blade is thin, the lock felt like it would move on me when I was gripping it, and the ergo's just didn't feel as good to me as when I have two pieces of g10 to hang to. Anyways no offense to anyone just looking for opinions on the newer models from some people that have handled them, own them etc. etc. keepem sharp

Cold Steel's "MSRP"s are $40 and $115, which means internet prices of around $25 and $70, which seem fair enough for the types of knives they are.
