Anyone Put Skate Board Tape On Their All Ti Folders?

It doesn't look to good, but for me it makes them easier to pull out of your pocket and hold on to.

This is why I don't like metal or carbon fiber handled knives. Too slippery. The newer CF does seem to be better on the grip situation then the previous stuff but I will stick to my G10, micarta, FRN, etc. I want some thickness (big hand) and grippy-ness on a handle. I don't worry too much about the weight of a knife.

I have considered getting a copper handled knife, only to see the evolution of the patina over time.

I use the black or grey track tape on my Code 4 folders and a few other slick or overly thin handles. It can start to fall apart after awhile but easily replaced or trimmed.

Right there with you. All of my knives these days are working knives, and in sunny South Texas you always have to be aware of the grip on your tools on a hot, humid day. Back in the 70s when just about everyone I knew carried the iconic Buck 110 (it was less than $15 nearly 50 years ago!!) it wasn't for me as it was too slick when I was really sweaty, too slick when I used it to clean game, and too smooth if I was wearing gloves in the winter.

Bought a CODE4, and sent it back for the same reason, got an Ultimate Hunter and love it. Same with the Bush Ranger. A few others that have grippy handles are my thing, and although I like the fancy designed machining and really appreciate how precise it is, it just isn't practical for me. Likewise, I rarely see any smooth scaled knife on the job unless it is a gas station throwaway.

What are you, a barbarian! :)

All kidding aside, I have put skateboard tape on other tools of the trade to improve grip with wet/sweaty hands, but not a knife. If I remember correctly, older Microtech's (or was it MoD?) knives had precut inlays that had the texture of non-skid or skateboard tape.

That’s my only problem with all metal handles. Too slippery at times. Even textured or coated scales can not offer the same grip as say g10. But my answer is holes, not tape. Its a personal preference but it might intrigue you. There’s a few knife modders out there that can add so called “speed holes” that will change the way you look at slippery scales forever. Just an idea.

This is a factory ZT. It changed my outlook

I tried experimenting on these, which I found to be slippery

No tap
I have a standard EDC use of my knives and reasonably strong grip... never had issues with my TI knives

but to be honest I like a good G10 handle like RHK or EKI can do it

My Microtech Scarab came with grip tape on the handle, but, I find it more of a pain since the tape chews on your knuckles and the back of your hand in the winter when you have your hands in your pockets.

Scarab is the bottom knife in the photo.

I got a mean wife and I never know when I may need to get my knife out fast. I wonder if the time she fell off of the back of my motorcycle when we were doing 60 caused this? She got mad because I did not fall off. Women are kinda strange sometimes.

I have a Benchmade Arcane that would probably be my favorite if it had any kind of grip at all. The handle is baby butt smooth and if it’s wet it is near impossible to grip. It’s just painted gloss aluminum and I can’t seem to find aftermarket scales.
I really can’t believe this knife made it past the design phase.
I have thought about using skateboard grip tape too.

Have done this on the smooth all stainless Spyderco Police and it works fine .

Generally , I just avoid buying smooth metal handles . Poor grip and no insulation .

:( Kinda a shame to cover up your nice Ti , but a slippery handle is unsafe IMO . Maybe you could texture the surface somehow ?
